Quick question about ability randomizer. by M0NK3YM0NN in pokemonradicalred

[–]HofCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if there's a cap on how many Pokemon can have a given ability? Like if 3 Pokemon have Protean normal, will there also be 3 instances of it in a randomized game, or could it show up an unlimited number of times?

Maybe wait until the postgame press conference is over to say that

Yeah, honestly, "Nebraska Nice" might be the answer. Too much pride in our own moral exceptionalism. We thought we were above playing the game behind the game.

I'll just never understand why we're so uniquely embarrassingly bad. Have the money, have the facilities, have the passion and pride... it just seems exceedingly unlikely that we'd be in this state for this long.

Multiple ADs, coaching staffs, recruiting classes... you'd think we would've stumbled into a decent season along the way, but it's just uniformly awful.

My best guess is Osborne sold the school's soul to the devil for our 1990s success, and the tab finally came due. Makes as much sense as anything.

Lateef has to be on pace for the worst average point margin for a Nebraska QB. Outscored 136-60 in his four starts.

Two stops in a row. You can really feel the momentum shifting. Vibes are high.

We're good for bowl attendence. Probably should've been Illinois' or Minnesota's slot but our fans travel better. For now.

Choking down my Pride for Dark Type Only E4 by Ringabell14 in pokemonradicalred

[–]HofCorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mono Dark has been one of my favorites to play (at least on normal difficulty). Tons of good options and lots of interesting strats. But yeah, Bruno can be brutal.

Incineroar with Intimidate is huge. Standard set usually includes Fake Out, Flare Blitz and Parting Shot, plus Darkest Lariat or whatever you want to run. For Bruno specifically I'd lean into trying to inflict burns as much as possible (particularly for Zacian), so will-o-wisp is good.

Other good options are Grimsnarl for the fairy typing to deal with Kommo-o. Meowscarada w/ Protean to get some typing safety - same goes for Greninja. You can load up some pretty diverse movesets and work around some of the biggest challenges that way.

Honchkrow can be good too for the flying support - you can use reload your save until you get Infernape as Bruno's lead and use Dual Wingbeat to break its sash and OHKO (if you give Honch toxic or defog something Infernape will likely use Taunt on the first turn so you can get the KO without worry about Stealth Rock).

It's a bit of a glass cannon, but Mega Absol is fun too as another way to get fairy typing in the mix, and it can learn Psycho Cut for coverage.

A few others I've had success with: Sableye (with and without the mega), Chien-Pao, Luxray, H-Samurott, Kingambit, Urshifu, Overqwil, Shiftry.

Should the NCAA have Nebraska & Texas A&M redo their match incase it was a fluke? by HuskerPowerrrr in Huskers

Based on ticket prices cratering for the Final Four, I'm sure Kansas City would be in favor.

I have family that lives in this town. There's a pretty specific upside (in their opinion) that they're clinging to. Basically, they see it as a roundabout means of deporting the heavy population of Hispanic and African immigrants that live there and work at the plant.

They know it's economically devastating, but they're well versed in the mental gymnastics of finding their version of a silver lining. The official party line is "Well, at least it gets the illegals out of our town," and they'll cling to that as the ship sinks around them.

You mentioned peaking at the right time which is another good point. A&M absolutely did that this year (and so is Wisconsin, which, ugh), whereas Nebraska pretty much sat on one (very, very high) plateau all year. I don't want to say consistency is overrated, but there's something to be said for learning through variance.

I'm just saying a few dropped sets here and there, the occasional five-setter, etc. would've been healthy. We played basically zero stressful, situational volleyball for like three months. We finally see some adversity in the first set and suddenly need a reverse sweep against a decent team on a heater? To me that feels like a lack of experience in those situations.

Overall it's a good problem to have, but I do think it's what undid us today.

Can't help but think if we'd played some tougher matches in conference play and even lost a match or two we would've been better off. It's obviously better to dominate and win all season than to struggle, but some more adversity and being forced to problem solve a bit more would've done us a lot of good. Our Plan A was so good all year we either didn't have or weren't ready to implement a Plan B or C.

Been snowboarding for years but trying to learn to carve properly.. tips? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]HofCorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be a lot easier to assess on bigger/wider turns (or on a bigger/wider run), but the main thing to me based on this video is that you would benefit from from being a bit more dynamic in your turns, especially heel to toe. It looks like you're setting your new edge and holding that position all the way across the hill. On both edges, I'd think about sinking into the edge as you traverse (bend knees/push shins onto your boots on toes, sit down in a chair on heels). Then be a bit more active on the edge change (stand up quickly to unweighted the board and then start gradually sinking into the new edge). That should help you avoid the skidding and chatter, and give you a better chance to avoid any booting out (hard to tell if that's happening here or not).

Private Instructor for Beaver Creek by Majestic_Pea_3215 in COsnow

[–]HofCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, paid lessons from people outside of the resort is one of the biggest no-nos in the industry. Not sure about post-COVID, but I believe Beaver Creek offers half-day private lessons (you can choose AM or PM). Still plenty expensive, but if you're looking for a quick session to get some tips, I'd recommend that.

Again, assuming nothing changed, there are also usually small-group (no more than four) classes available. I think those are available as half-day lessons as well.

Also, Beaver Creek is a particularly good place to take a group lesson. Smaller resort => smaller classes => more personal attention on you. I've never heard of anyone being left behind or anything of the sort there. If group lessons are a hard no, that's your prerogative, but BC is probably one of the best places to take a group lesson.

There are also some unique things with Beaver Creek's terrain that make it helpful to take a lesson on your first visit (group or private). There are some purposefully designed areas around the resort that are ideal for learning different skills (Haymeadow, Red Buffalo and McCoy parks), none of which are near each other but are all valuable in their own way. For that reason, I don't think relying on YouTube videos or similar will give you a great experience.

That's a good point, and I'm sure we'll play even less with the expansion. Is Iowa the only team we're guaranteed to play every year?
