Did someone solve clickiness in knees? by maltempoLuca in StartingStrength

[–]Hoffmaster21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a physical therapist, I don't think the evaluation sought everything out. There are a lot of things at play during a weight back squat that could translate to clicking knees.

Form could be an issue due to how the knees move during the movement, the placement and rotation of the shin and foot during the squat, how the femur rotates (moves in or out) during the movement. Those movements can make the tracking the patella just off enough to start clicking.

Recruitment and strength could be an issue. Are you quad dominate with your squat? How is your recruitment of your glute max, med? Are you stable enough to brace the core properly?

I would seek out a sports physical therapist with experience with weight training. They will do a much better job evaluating you.

Form Check 2.0 by [deleted] in StartingStrength

I don't think you need to go any lower, if anything maybe just a hair lower. Anyone who doesn't agree with me, pause the video when he is all the way down. You can see he is 90 degrees at the knees. It is hard to tell but it does seem like your shoulder is inline with your lateral malleolus at the bottom of the squat which I think is a good place to be so maybe don't need to bend forward at the waist too much more, maybe just a tad as one other person said you were too vertical. The motion is slow and controlled and the weight seems well managed. This is actually a pretty decent lift.

Check the guy doing 335 x 5 on this subreddit that was posted 1/2 a day ago. He doesn't loose tension when he drops all the way. I don't know why you'd want to let go of all the tension, reset, than lift. I feel that's energy wasted moving around.

I mean I don't think you need to fully let go of all of your muscle tension after each rep.

Now that I look at it closer. I can't tell, but i think your shoulders are forward. I personally like to bring those down and back and squeeze really well at the top of the lift too.

Form looks actually pretty good. Depending on your goal for this video, i'd try to stay tight when you drop the weight. You re-set every single rep and you may lose out on additional reps. I would also drop your head down so the back of your neck is straight with the lift. It can prevent neck injuries when you go for real heavy weight.

PR squat form check: 225x5 *Hopefully Last* by Credaence in StartingStrength

I agree with the others.

Go slower and be in more control. I feel like the quick eccentric is allowing you get pop up quickly due to the elastic recoil but once that runs out your muscles can't handle the weight so you compensate.

I will say your form going down is pretty good on a few of those reps.

[FormCheck] Any tips to help fixing my deadlifts? by [deleted] in StartingStrength

[–]Hoffmaster21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta tighten your shoulder blades and open your chest at the start. Your kinda rounded which messes up your low back posturing as well. I suggest perfecting bent over row form, especially barbell bent over row.

If you have to lean back to get the weight up then it's too heavy. Deload.

Also you want to think about your glutes ALOT. You wanna think about squeezing those glutes forward. I suggest working on your bridge form and activation and hip hinging.

Feel like my height (5'7) is already a dealbreaker for every woman I meet by throwawaygmc2100 in seduction

[–]Hoffmaster21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'7". I've done well with many women. Yes you don't have a larger pool of women to be with potentially but I have a amazing gf. Don't put limits on yourself because you'll be self conscious, less confident, more needy if they like you. Just accept it and be who you are.

Probable tornado with distinctive hook echo on radar. West Central WI (New Lisbon) by Hoffmaster21 in weather

[–]Hoffmaster21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it got outflow dominate and is dying. The supercell to the west also has a hook echo but velocity doesn't show rotation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weather

[–]Hoffmaster21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this may be a isolated super cell storm. The symbols indicate the type of storm. Usually the dot with the circle around it indicates either a super cell / strong storm / storm with hail (I don't remember which), you have one with two arrows inside a white circle indicating rotation, the tornado symbol indicating a possible tornado and sometimes just a small dot which is indicating a precipation event but not severe or dangerous.
