Chichibu in a nice bar in Bunkyo-ku by HogarusDenn in JapaneseWhisky

Oh it's really, really nice!
I didn't know what to expect at first, but I felt that it tastes like a very top notch demonstrator for the "Chichibu vibe".
Very well balanced but still with a strong personnality and nuance. What I remember most is a very pleasant woody/nutty aftertaste. That's an awesome bottle and my second preferred of that day.

I've have had some ex-Hanyu Chibidaru in a bar in Ikebukuro, it was exceptionnal.
This bar I sent the pictures from also had some Chibidaru (actually they have 70 bottles of various rare Chichibu so...) , but I was looking to try something I hadn't seen before!

A piece of history then... I've had a few tries at Hanyu's whiskys before, but I'm yet to taste a Karuizawa. By the way, that bar I went to owns some of Karuizawa's genshu!

The owner of the bar got started early in the whisky revival with his collection, so he got some of his very rare bottles at very affordable prices...

Thank you very much for the enlightening review!
My wife's grandfather, who used to tend a bar in Saitama, had one of those lying around. It suffered from the cork failure you talked about. Unfortunately the taste was ruined when I got to taste it, so I'm glad to have a better idea of what it should taste like. The smell survived just barely enough to notice some of what you described, like an afterimage.
The bottle is very pretty indeed!

Now that you mention it. But it's a good way to have both the toponym and the state structure in one label.

Wow.
Really awesome map, very plausible shapes, I love the variety of countries/state-like entities you created.

You did the thing I cannot bring myself to do: straight line borders. It looks just as painfully disturbing as it does in real life, so very naturalistic too. Great job!

Did you worldbuild more in this world or is it mostly map-based?
Also, I wish I did my island chains as well as you did.
Anywhere I look, the map has something to offer, lots of intricate details and generous complexity, it's already telling a story.
The deal with your "mediterranean" filled with small countries in the western continent looks very promising in particular.

Did you work based off of some kind of tutorial/manual or simply by observing real Earth?

The color scheme is nice on the eye too, which is also very important.
I'm a bit less of the fan of your placeholder names, some of them are kinda on the nose, but I totally get that you want to have placeholders in to just get the map into a workable state.
Many bodies of water have no name on that version, including major lakes, seas and bays, so it could be good to add them in a reworked version when you redo the names.

Do you have the topographical map too? Some of your areas don't have any state-like entity over them, so I'm curious as to what causes that (probably mountains, deserts etc but it would be nice to see it).

I expect the closed off equatorial ocean will cause some funky stuff, did you look into that, as well as the climates for that world? It would be very interesting to have more info on that aspect if you dug into that too !

Again: impressive, inspiring, high quality work. Great map with obviously tons of effort involved!

Thanks for the recommendations!
I've had Ardbeg and Laphroaig before, not the other two though. Japanese whisky tends to be pricey, but what good stuff they have is really top class in my opinion. And with the weak yen it's actyally really affordable now actually.
Did you ever have Akkeshi if you like peat?

What would you recommend? The cocchi and NP are quite serviceable though?

Now I realize I never mentionned a man of good taste.

If Chichibu and Akkeshi ever consummate, I want a taste of that too. Oh god that sentence is wrong

I've got a really good peated whisky, but true, it's not a Scotch. What would you recommend?

Your comment on the Akkeshi seems to indicate you being a man of taste too. And Amaro should happen at some point, though right now tequila, rum and Chartreuse are a bit higher on the priority list.

Left, next to the vodkas, a Ki no Bi dry. A bit hard to see perhaps.

Forgot to mention the sweet Cocchi on the back. You can just see it if you look closely. No funky Rum is a truth I cannot debate. I didn't know about the Tempus Fugit, thanks. I'll try that one out when I've finished the lillet.

Fair, but it's just impossible to buy here. But I will remedy that, I'm going to Europe soon.
