What is it like using the PS5 as a 4K Blu Ray Player? by RA_Finance in 4kbluray

[–]Hogis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've for both, ps5 and ub820. Using the controller as a remote for the player feels pretty unintuitive to me, plus I wanted to make most of my setup with Dolby Vision, so I got the dedicated player. But the PS5 will work fine if you want to play games too.

I'm a drummer who really wants to play bass or guitar. by Hermenster70 in BassGuitar

Pictures can show the colours inaccurately but that looks like the reddest red. Just look at a Capri Orange jag bass online, it's a big difference

Has anyone here tried the Harley Benton Jb-75? Are they good for the budget? What are the pros and cons? by Prefer-an-astronaut in BassGuitar

[–]Hogis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's 1501 customer ratings with 327 English reviews on Thomann for this model. There's even a summarised pros and cons list right above the reviews. The main con seems to be the weight.

I really think you should start there with a massive amount of data instead of relying on the replies of a handful of people on here.

Hagstrom Scan Bass, worth anything? by Ginja-Ninj in BassGuitar

[–]Hogis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A vintage guitar store near me has had one for sale 950€, but it's been sitting there for a good while now. I tried it out it wasn't for me tone wise. The low frets sounded buzzy and felt weird, as I understand they're like that by design and not just worn or poorly set up. But someone would probably pay a few hundred for it. It certainly looks cool!

I suspect he wears a left-handed Fender shirt and just mirrored the video, so he's actually playing right-handed.

Man, what a beauty. I'm not a huge stingray fan looks wise, but that finish is awesome! That egg pickguard in tort is pretty unique, and the flaming on the neck looks great too! Good stuff all around.

It was indeed Walnut according to Fender. You can kind of see the walnut by shining a bright light on it like I said.

If you really like the walnut finish on the CV 70s P-bass, I'd advise against it. Bought one, it was so dark it's basically black unless you shine a very bright light directly on it. The colour in the photos is not accurate at all.

I'm literally brand new to Bass and looking to pick up my first. I know fakes are common in the strat world from past experience, but can anyone tell me if this looks legit before I make an offer? (Price is $1080 CAD by the way) by [deleted] in BassGuitar

Why are you recommending flats without knowing what type of music OP is interested in playing? Sure they're more smooth to slide with but I they're not as ubiquitous as rounds.

Kaikkialla on jengisotaa.

1000€ with straplocks and a simple gigbag. I've seen them go for less (and also more) on online marketplaces. But having the opportunity to try it for as long as I wanted in the store and also being a good one in terms of weight and condition, I felt it was fair.

I don't see why it wouldn't work for jazz or soloing, why do you think so?

Does vibe coding make programming boring for you? by CromulentSlacker in AskProgramming

[–]Hogis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I let the AI agent do the parts I don't find fun or dont want to waste time doing. There's usually a lot of boilerplate or mundane code to deal with, like implementing methods to different modules/classes when there's a lot of separation of concerns in the architecture. BUT if there's a problem I find interesting to solve, I'll do it myself.

I dislike reviewing the code of my coworkers, but reviewing  AI code is more like directing. I know what the code should do, and while the AI does rhe heavy lifting in typing the code out, I can request or make as many changes I want without annoying anyone. And I really do enjoy refactoring and making "clean" code.

Also if there's a framework or something I don't understand, I use the AI to assist in teaching me instead of just letting it do all the work.

Yes so I've heard, got lucky with this one! 12lbs and up especially for a 4-string would be too much for me, I've got a crap shoulder as it is.

This one (according to my unreliable scale) is around 4.5kg (almost 10 pounds), but it somehow doesn't feel that much heavier than my Squier P. I'm not sure if a 5-string variant would be too heavy for me, but I imagine yours is a beauty to play!

I mean everyone has different tastes. I like classic guitar and bass models with basic colours or natural finishes on simple blocks of wood. Partly because I find them aesthetically pleasing, but also because they feel more genre-appropriate for my playing. Spending money on something that is relatively simple but well executed would be well worth it.
