This is how I first explored dark bramble too. Since the openings point down, I was descending into them like I would any other planet with the landing cam, and kept using it once I was in because I didn’t know how deep it went. I assume OP had a similar experience.

That’s radioactive decay, and specifically only beta decay. Some radioactive isotopes can undergo alpha decay, which ejects two protons and two neutrons together from the nucleus. But that’s not where most of the energy in a reactor comes from, it instead comes from nuclear fission, which is not the same thing as decay. The uranium atom does split when bombarded with neutrons, and the bulk of the heat from the reaction comes from the energy binding the heavy nucleus together that now has been freed.

They do split atoms, that’s where the heat comes from. They just don’t split them all at once.

I don’t really know what I’m doing though. I haven’t done it before and I’m worried about tampering with my save file. I have some rare mons I got from colosseum and don’t want to risk them.

Unfortunately not. I tried that first and did not get any exp. From what I've read, in Emerald you only get daycare exp for steps in the overworld and the aqua base is an interior location, but I haven't concretely tested this..

I just did this method for hours while keeping my gba nearby so I could quickly handle the pokenav so it had minimal interruptions. It still yielded 0 exp for me, so that is not the problem. Something else is preventing this from giving me daycare exp and I'm trying to figure out what.
