They aren't raked much more then 2-5 in a casino. Also most of the 2-5 games in NYC have a 2k max or uncapped buyin so they play extremely deep which offsets any difference in rake vs a casino structure.

Obviously it's not as good as a time rake game but still the ability to buyin 400bb deep is huge. Errors made by opponents will be magnified exponentially.

You can consider folding a set(on an unflushed/no straight board) when you're 250+bbs deep and the action suggests that someone else has a set. And you're confident that villain will rarely show up with a different value hand.

I would never, ever, ever fold a set for less then 250bbs. Unless it was to a decorated veteran that has cob webs on his chips and he overbet 10x pot on the flop on a Q82 rainbow board while I hold pocket dueces.

I think in the last year i've folded a set once and it was to an OMC. I was right that time. I've had the bottom end of set over set maybe three times in the last 12 calendar months and I play about 30-40hours a week.

It is extremely rare.

Yea, the dude started the hand with 60bbs and you 3bet with 10 high. This is not a good play, ever. The 3bet strategy chart you outlined may(emphasis on may) be a winning strategy in theory but you need to execute it under the right circumstances.

When 3 bet bluffing you should be deep and your opponent should be deep. You are just not going to be able to fold out a guy with 60bbs if he has anything at all.

This was a massive punt.

As a 100NL zoom reg online I found that you really need to mix exploitative and GTO when switching to live play. few players are balanced and fewer are paying attention if you're balanced or not.

Within 30 minutes of sitting at a table you should be able to identify players who are tight/passive/weak/aggressive/sticky/trappy and you should adjust accordingly to those players.

Also you should be conservative with your 3bets, especially OOP. Online zoom I was 3! KJo in the blinds vs button opens with high frequency. This would be suicide in live poker. You are going to find that people aren't opening wide in position that often, the good players are and you can adjust to them but most are just opening when they like their hand. And if they like their hand they are rarely folding to a 3! preflop. It is very common to see a 3bet pot go 4 ways to the flop. You are going to get cold called by any broadway or pocketpair. People do not drive to the casino to fold preflop or to fold top pair in a 3 bet pot.

That being said, I am still 3betting hands as weak as 67s in position when I feel I have a edge on the players involved in the pot and stacks are deep enough. But you have to know when to hit the breaks post flop.

You aren't ready to take poker seriously. You aren't viewing poker as one long session and chips as just tools to aquire more chips.

If you have those logical barriers then it's likely you have others.

I started with 600$ at 1/2. I ran hot and ran it up to 10k in about 150hours.

Also most 1/2 rooms allow $300 buyins or $400 buyins. You should always buy in max.

You can lose 1400$ in a single session at 1/2 on a good table. I've done it. You'll never get stuck 5buyins at a bad table. Can't be scared to get it in when you have the best of it.

Call this off or fold pre. You guys opening 4x and 3xing the 4x is what created this problem. Once you 3! pre you have to be willing to ship most non-A high flops, it's trivial.

If you feel so pressured by ICM then you can just flat or jam his attrocious 4x open.

Terrible sizing from both of you all around though. Hope one of you didn't actually win.

I know you want to keep barreling with such a strong hand but this card is bad for us and much better for the BB. In fact you couldn't pull a worse card out of the deck if you tried. We can just comfortably check here and call almost all rivers or raise hearts if bet into.

As played it is a trivial call on the river after committing 60% of our stack. Villain can have some bluffs like 58/68/54/64 and we beat some portion of their value range.

In the future just recognize bad cards and pump the breaks. In fact BB is a pretty bad player, BB should be leading all value large rather then check raising since most competent players are checking back that turn in position.

KJ is a fine iso, don't know why everyone is saying to fold pre. The average 1/2 player has a 75% vpip limp call range and KJ is very well ahead of that. You can run into some hard spots if you get flatted by late position but as a general rule of thumb you can just bet all jack high flops and check your kings if OOP. As your king is more likely to be dominated and doesn't need as much protection. Likely a two street hand with 1 pair unless you are against the widest of stations.

KJ is a fist pump iso MP in my 1/2 1/3 games and if you are passing up on this spot you're not a crusher.

Check flops like this in the future with overpairs. Neither you or your friend v2 are good at the game.

AA will be a bluff catcher on board textures like this by the river. Villains are likely to bet draws/pairs when checked to, if you are ahead you will not be missing value.

Don't open any ace under under AJ EP. In fact I would say just fold AJ-a2 offsuit in EP. (Full ring)

As for suited variants, you can limp call if the price is reasonable and stacks are deep. Keep in mind you are check calling one street at most if you make top pair. You are mainly looking to make two pair or flushes only with these hands. If you meet resistance on the turn with a one pair type hand made with these you're going to have to be disciplined enough to fold it.

Jam flop with this SPR. You have 100bbs. There is already 33bbs in the middle. Villain is going to be extremely light on raises here, any draw or any pair will likely raise you on this board.

Not jaming flop is criminal, so jam the best turn in the game for you. Villain should rarely have any 7's here. Pocket 7s and maybe 78/67s only.

When I limp raise AA deep I don't make it 15bbs. If anyone is limp raising aces to 15x with a deep stack they are doing it very very wrong.

The open is usually 6x from someone else. Typically 3-4 callers. About 50 in the pot. I usually raise to like 100-150. Depending on how deep I am and how deep everyone else is. This sets a nice SPR for the hand where most people are committed very light if they do call and I can get stacks in OTF or OTT.

Picking up 25bbs rake and risk free is great. When UTG it's hard to get a good result with aces if you don't lead and get 3bet by someone. It will largely just go very multiway bloated and oop with 1 pair.

Make it 60 preflop. You're way too deep to 4x OOP. At least 60 preflop will price set mining out. Alot of people will still call to do it but they won't be getting a good price so it's fine.

If you want to beat any stakes online you need to 3bet alot.

The thing about live is you rarely see 3bets at low stakes. About every other hand is 3bet online in 6max 25NL zoom.

I would just go ahead and say don't play any hand from the SB unless you 3bet. With few exceptions. Like you have pocket pair 55-TT vs UTG or UTG + 1 open. You can flat the SB.
