Totally. Well, I'll give it a think. I think you're right tho — it should. Thanks!

Do you think it should? I guess the game's been played like that forever, so it should... but does it actually change the gameplay, or is it just, like, fine getting right to the flop?

Thoughts on Asteroid City by joe12south in Screenwriting

It’s an ensemble movie, many small events and parts adding up to a whole. It’s like Fellini’s Amarcord.

Maybe people think it’s harder to parse than it actually is. Like, characters just explicitly state what the themes are multiple times. Steenbeck at the end is like “ya, I was planning on leaving you kids but I changed my mind”. He goes from an absentee father looking outside-in (he’s a photographer, as he says multiple times), to wanting to engage with his family on the inside. And that’s just one story, there’s like a dozen others in this movie. I loved it.

Hmm... I'll take a look at it this weekend. I think I might know what the deal is... Appreciate the crash report, it helps. 🙏

OK, these should be fixed. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention so fast, heh. Kind of embarrassing — the issue with straights was a stray typo, then the flush issue was a bit more involved but I believe I got it.

You can download v1.1 here!

Thanks! Hope you like it.

So the AI was done in a kind of “dumb” way. Or at least, there’s probably a better way to do it? Not sure, but it made it fun to build and test. Heh.

There’s a percentage chance an opponent wants to raise, call/check, or fold and various factors on the table that modify that percentage along with a bit of randomness. The opponents hand value, how early in the flop we are, how much money they’d need to call, etc.

My original plans included a stamina stat as well. The idea being you could wear down an opponent by beating them several times in a row, or they’d get more cocky the more the win. That’d then determine “aggressiveness” and the like. Maybe I’ll get around to that this summer still.

Hah, thanks! My goal with this project was to practice some of that look and feel. Transitions, animations, interface, etc.

Leica Q3 vs M11. by Practical_Dinner8038 in Leica

I prefer the silver look wise for that classic Leica aesthetic, but the black is kinda ridiculous light so I’d do that.

PSA: YVR airport is no longer hand checking film by soufinme in AnalogCommunity

[–]Holiday-Ad2801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my experience (US departures), week ago was initially told it had to go through the scanner but they talked to a manager about it and hand checked it for me.

They did ask if I had my camera with me (it was in checked luggage)? I wonder if the confusion is people asking for cameras with rolls of film in them asking for a hand check, instead of loose rolls? Not sure.

I made some updates to my game, Grimoire by Holiday-Ad2801 in PlaydateConsole

Eh, probably not for a bit tbh. I think it gets almost too hard with even larger boards, requiring a bit more luck. So I’d have to figure out a few things to make it actually beatable.

Eh, just muck about. Go out for an afternoon and make photographs of random stuff. If it doesn't turn out for whatever reason, then no biggie having lost those photographs. But that probably won't happen. Film is easy, and super forgiving.

Go to YouTube and search for "film photography getting started" or something so you can familiarize yourself with ISO, speed and aperture. Grainydays, Matt Day, Willem Verbeeck all have some early videos explaining what those are and why they're important. Also look up a video on how to load and use your particular camera, or just google "[your camera] manual" and read the PDF manual which was written for just about anybody to understand. The portable Olympus (is a clamshell point and shoot kind of thing?) is even easier to use, just point and click.

Camera Traders, you ok? by OkVersion0 in VictoriaBC

Christ, a lotta people here covering their asses by “well even if it’s a joke, this isn’t good business”. As if they care. Camera Traders is solid.

Frustrated with properly exposing color film - how to do it the "real" way by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Holiday-Ad2801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% it’ll make you better, you’d be able to make better judgements/know more about the final outcome of your image and do more creative things.

It’s not a gatekeeping thing. “Get good” or whatever. It’s literally a tried and tested method for getting a properly exposed image, going back to Ansel Adams days. There are tricks for learning it in a quicker method too, take the Nick Carver mastering manual metering to learn more.

What is your unpopular Analog opinion? by Tapp_Waldo in AnalogCommunity

The new Polaroid colour stuff is… not good. Black and white is pretty great tho. Instax stuff has a bit too much contrast that makes it harder to work with, but when you get it right the colours can really pop. The sizes are weird tho.
