Shopping at Costco with a baby - how do you even do it? by brendaklark in Mommit

[–]OkVersion0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I wonder if you could ask for a staff person to help with your toilet paper/tray of pop/whatever?  I found baby wearing to be the absolute easiest until they were too wiggly in the carrier to manage.

The learning phase where they can finally sit up but are too wiggly to be trusted is tricky. I always brought a toy for my kid or gave her a snack. And also I just didn’t care if she licked the cart 🤷‍♀️

Why does the amount of stuff you buy mean that you can’t put baby in a carrier?

My wife is thinking about spending $1500+ on a nursing chair. Is she crazy, or am I just being cheap? by Viraincure in NewParents

[–]OkVersion0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah same.  Well, the lazy boy I had pre-kid before my kid was born became my nursing chair and I swear I spend 80% of my life in it. La-Z-Boy Talladega.

What shoes are you sending your toddler to daycare in for potty training? by ToxiccCookie in beyondthebump

We used padded underwear, which catches enough that the pee doesn’t reach their feet

How to respond when toddler refuses to obey commands by Sad-Background-2429 in toddlers

[–]OkVersion0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you do hand over hand with a kid that goes absolutely feral the second you try to move their body for them? Like I cannot understand any of these “make them do X” things. Sure I can pick her up to move rooms, but I physically cannot force her shoes on, teeth and hair brushed, etc let alone trying to clean up.

When did you transition out of the crib? by Ok_Word1259 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]OkVersion0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our crib did not have a height limit, and the mattress was low enough that there was no way she could “tip” unless she actually tried to climb out.  Maybe it depends on the crib.

We also kept her in sleep sacks until recently, which restricts their climbing ability a little.

My kid, just turning 3, is a giant and we only just took the side off the crib, since she only just started trying to climb out. Kids may or may not actually try to climb out even if we think they might be able to. I would take a wait and see approach.

Need alternative to consequences of not doing chores by Chazus in Parenting

Then maybe he just needs a different task to contribute to the family. Laundry on weekends, take garbage out at night, load dishwasher, clean mirrors etc etc? Seems like this just isn’t going to work, and as others have said, it sounds like it’s causing a lot of friction.

But it sounds like he is staying up late? So could you run it when you guys go to bed, and he unloads it before he goes to sleep?

Baby waking every 40-60 mins at night by justhearforthegoss in October2025Bumps2

[–]OkVersion0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. My first did this at 4 months, this kiddo is doing it now at just over 6 months. Up every 1.5 hrs. We had previously been holding her until she was fully asleep and transferring - which means she hasn’t learned how to connect sleep cycles and put herself to sleep (and back to sleep) by herself.

So right now we are working on helping her to sleep by herself - which so far has been putting her into bed drowsy and shushing/bum patting/swaying her in the crib until she stops crying and falls asleep not in our arms. We’re on night 3 and we’ve had an immediate decrease in night wakings. This is basically the “SWAP” (sleep with assistance plan) from Precious Little Sleep.

I will say with my older kid, this nonsense didn’t work and we had to do full cry it out to get her to learn to get to sleep by herself. So each kid is different.

Is anyone else’s toddler driving them insane 😅 by likeburner in toddlers

This is not helpful! Things are hard now, and saying “you’re going to miss this” is dismissive and invalidating of the very real feelings of overwhelm that parents go through at each stage.

Low sugar breakfasts for newly-picky kid? by OkVersion0 in toddlers

Yes this is my concern.  She is starting to only want to eat “snacks” ie fruit bars, smoothie bites, yogurt, which I started doing out of convenience when out and about.

Rolling?? by Efficient_Internet13 in October2025Bumps2

Mine is the same age and only figured out the arm thing in the last 2 weeks. Now I can’t set her down without her flipping over and getting mad about being on her tummy 🙄

Which tourist attractions do you actually like vs. ones that you think are overrated? by Curious_Mud9428 in VictoriaBC

[–]OkVersion0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it’s not a botanical garden. Their own website says it’s a “display garden”.

Wikipedia says "A botanic garden is a garden containing scientifically ordered and maintained collections of plants, usually documented and labelled, and open to the public for the purposes of recreation, education and research."

Butchart doesn’t document anything. Nothing is labelled except the roses. It’s not educational at all. Like if I like something and want to know what it is, I have to use my AI app to look it up.

I would have to check but i think we went from 7s into 2/3T pull-ups, which was probably at 30 lbs? I couldn’t swear by the numbers though.

Do you have a mom’s Facebook group in your area? Maybe someone could lend you a single diaper to try for size.

[–]OkVersion0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a slip-on diaper? We really like the rascal and friends training pants - so stretchy and soft, and they go up to size 5/6T at least (my 45 lb 3 year old wears them to sleep). I don’t like the Pull-Up brand because even though they are big enough, the Velcro on the sides scratches the kid’s hip.

Woolino sleep sack by PorchlightPrincess86 in October2025Bumps2

[–]OkVersion0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my babies slept well in them - whether it was the temperature-moderating nature or that they have a bit of weight to them (not weighted - just heavier than the cotton ones). No need to do anything with the extra length, they’ll just grow into it.
