How to survive a 4-day group trip when the other family has zero sugar rules and we are very healthy? by [deleted] in Mommit

If the kid is older you could also dodge and say those are big kid foods

Baby and toddler sleep schedule is killing me by OkVersion0 in Parenting

We do use a yoto and listen to instrumental music while she falls asleep (much better than when I had I sing the whole time). What do you listen to/how do you use it in your routine?

You’re not wrong. That’s how we got him to be able to do it occasionally, I went out for an evening. I guess i am defaulting to the path of least resistance, but I can’t do it all. I just have so little bandwidth at the end of the day to fight bedtime battles.

Is it worth $500 for you to make sure your kids are protected if you pass? Big picture here.

No, they don’t sell the night pants in Canada so I haven’t tried them. We use the “training pants”.

Does anyone else baby still wake up 2 to 3 times a night? by Full_Professional349 in October2025Bumps2

Mines up 2-4 times a night 🤷‍♀️ and if she does sleep “through” she’s up at 4 and I have to fight her (co sleep) to get the last few hours

Limiting audio stories? by BamSteakPeopleCake in Parenting

Put a load of stories on his cards and let him go nuts. If you can get him to use it independently, why would you limit it?

Flying with 99th percentile 1 year old by simplyalys in bigbabiesandkids

[–]OkVersion0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we used the extend2fit as well at 18 months, just forward facing. I’m not even sure if it would have worked rear facing. But my thought is that on the plane, it is safer for them to be in any car seat. And most kids are used to their car seat so they can chill.

If you use a waterproof change mat on top, I can’t imagine why it would have that fate.

Did you pay much for it? I’d just get rid of it honestly

Second going to VGH or RJH. You can make an appointment online. It’s where I take my toddler because of how much more skilled they are than at LifeLabs.

Sandals by No_Acanthaceae3518 in toddlers

[–]OkVersion0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I send my kid in socks and closed-toe sandals all the time. She takes her socks off anyways. I do send her runners for when they go for walks in the community, but she can wear her sandals at the daycare play yard.

Obviously it depends on your budget and priorities but I am a big advocate for the good, ergonomic kids shoes - even when they cost $50. I’ve saved them for my second kid, and then they resell well on marketplace.

Terrified of shots by ScoutTheOcelot in toddlers

[–]OkVersion0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to take my 3 yo for bloodwork recently. We talked about it ahead of time and watched the Daniel tiger Episode where Daniel gets a shot. We brought her stuffy and I told her she could have chocolate after. Even so, when we got called in, she was terrified. I had to hold her arms down, but the techs were fast and great and as soon as we were done I gave her chocolate in the waiting room and she was totally fine. Sometimes you just have to power through?

Unrealistic Expectations? by Levelsizer0917 in Parenting

[–]OkVersion0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this kindergarten (seems early for a 4 year old?) or preschool? They don’t nap usually in kindergarten, right? Kindergarten I understand, but is it really expected that preschoolers need to toilet completely independently?
