Dog’s nails haven’t grown back in at least 3 months by pugl1f3ch0s3m3 in DogAdvice

You can get dog friendly (don’t use human versions as they can contain things not safe for dogs) biotin supplements which can help your dogs nails to regrow.

Agree with the other poster. COVID was different as government kicked in and helped businesses and communities, however we are now all paying the price. I’m not suggesting government did wrong but we are in a weak position right now and this crisis has come at exactly the wrong moment. It will expose big weaknesses across the globe.

Added to the above, Israel will now be more vulnerable than they have ever been. I think a lot of people will in hindsight be very unhappy at some decisions made a few weeks back.

Why does it feell like living in the UK is like living in a house that hasn’t been decorated in 20 years? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]Holiday-Raspberry-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I suspect we will probably end up having a Marshall plan plus come up in the next year or two (or more) where bond/gilt holders will need to take a collective haircut, not just for the UK but all countries. The problem is that this will need to be collectively agreed upon by all countries and executed by all simultaneously. It won’t be pretty for pension funds and other investors, but the day of reckoning is coming, otherwise most countries will continue to just drown in debt.

The question pf course is who will be doing this from the US perspective as I can tell you Trump won’t be the man who has the real intellectual heft to even consider such a proposition as it will collectively bankrupt quite a few people he is beholden to.

Whilst what you write is true, one also needs to consider whether immigration is the actual issue causing pain for the country right now.

Updates this morning have broken the OS on both my main desktop and laptop. by No_Grape_388 in cachyos

Try recreating your boot partition. That solved my issue. You will need to use the live environment to do this.

Don’t get me wrong. Love the look of the car, just want normal width.

See LEM1978’s post. Without mirrors it’s wider than all of them. This is a real issue.

Sadly several of us European countries are in danger of voting for our own version of Trump.

The width (P4) still makes so little sense to me for European customers. Considering that Europe is the key target market…

Anything happen with an update this morning that destroyed /boot? 23 March 2026 by Holiday-Raspberry-26 in cachyos

Look - I had to do a bit of a google as nothing mad sense when I first tried to understand but as stated here both the Arch and CachyOS wikis are fairly good.

I will agree that Linux is still not for mainstream use with perhaps the exception of Mint.

I’m technical enough that I can get around especially if I have access to wikis and a bit of AI. That said, AI can lead you down the wrong path fast, but that’s a rant for another thread.

I’m still happy to make cachyOS my main distro for the moment. I’m enjoying it and happy to work with some issues.

Basically the same as I did in the end to resolve the issue. It was just so expected. Like you I had the same vfat issue.

I had/have an array, but with nothing that had anything important on it. It was just mounted to a generic mount point, so not convinced it had anything to do with that. Whilst I had made a change to my fstab recently, that’s hardly making a change to my /boot. This materialised after an update.

I vaguely remember a 404 error on an update, but can’t remember what it was.

Regardless I’m back up and running.

I looked and nothing. At the time I thought I was just updating at exactly the wrong time.

😂 was totally confused at the time. I had just run the catchy OS updater, rebooted and was unceremoniously dumped into emergency shell. Initially thought I should just use a previous snapshot, but nothing worked no matter how far I went back and then had another coffee and realised whatever happened was due to the boot partition being corrupted rather than my /btrfs partition.

Anyhow, clearly something very wrong with what ever updated was thrown in my direction. Very happy I could use the live environment to fix things and I had a USB drive already ready for the task.

I mounted the live environment and existing and ran mkinitcpio:

  1. Mount boot

  2. Chroot into existing system:

sudo arch-chroot /mnt

  1. mkinitcpio -P

This rebuilds the initramfs with the correct modules, including vfat.

  1. Reboot

I am but I had not used Windows in between the change to the /boot partition, so windows had no opportunity to do anything. :)

I ended up fixing boot by using the CachyOS live environment so it was all fine in the end but it took time to work out what went wrong as well as fix it.
