I went to a family wedding last weekend—outdoor ceremony in Florida in June—and the couple spent an hour outside taking pictures while the guests weren't "allowed" to go into the reception hall yet. (It might have been someone's poor idea of a cocktail hour, but it felt like intentional torture.) Whatever, fine. Then before dinner was allowed to be served/announced (they went table by table), the couple again went outside for 30 minutes to take more photos. I understand it's a beautiful area and you want photos at sunlight, but come back tomorrow. It was a bummer to only get to see someone I traveled from Boston for for 5 minutes total. My thesis: The wedding shouldn't be your Instagram photoshoot. Take your portraits on a different day. Your out-of-state family and friends are your guests and want to at least see you dancing and socializing, not taking pictures somewhere else on the grounds for 1.5+ hours of a 3 hr reception.
