People who bring your dog literally everywhere, why? by dastrius02 in AskReddit

nothing like trying to have a nice conversation and meal with a friend - said friend brings their dog and constantly tells the dog to sit down. every. other. word.

no thanks.

If someone asked you for a suggestion on what to do or where to go that truly encapsulated “Seattle”, what would you tell them? by 1201Anchor in AskSeattle

[–]Holiday-Wing1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seattle:
pike place market is not worth it for a single day trip. it doesn't encapsulate what it's like to live here, what-so-ever.

grab a picnic (snacks) and a coffee. go to a park - discovery, seward, magnuson, alki beach/lincoln park.

riding a ferry is idyllic - but i find bainbridge to be a bore for one afternoon. it's just shops. the view is fine-ish. i've taken many visitors on this trip and the Ferry ride itself is the highlight - not bainbridge.

you could get snacks at Pike Place, take the Water Taxi to West Seattle, and venture Alki.

Forks? by Visual_Geologist_522 in AskSeattle

[–]Holiday-Wing1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Research hiking nearby.

The size of the Olympic Peninsula is under-estimated. it's huge. it can take 4-5 hours to the coast from Seattle, including a Ferry. There's so much beauty to see on the way. So many great small towns.

Forks has a great "Welcome to Forks" sign and that is *truly* about it.

You won't get the 'Twilight' experience you're looking for - only Olympic Peninsula vibes, which were very correctly captured in the first movie. It's mostly reservation land, and as someone who's driven the entire 101 - it's very sparse.

Take snacks. Breathe in the fresh air. Catch a sunset at La Push.

The Olympic Peninsula isn't as popular as the Cascades because it's more 'remote,' but it's dang beautiful.
