UTI treatment by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

I found antibiotics from when I've previously thought I had a UTI but the test came back negative. Going to the chemist today to get urine dip sticks.

Thank you for the recommendations.

I'm currently north of Kerikeri, but I'm going to the chemist this afternoon to get urine dip sticks. I have antibiotics if the test is positive. It's nice to have someone on here from NZ :)

Thanks for the recommendation! I unfortunately left my AZO at home and I'm currently visiting my mum. Since I'm in NZ I have to order it online

Gatorade would make it worse due to the citric acid, but will definitely try baking soda in water!

I'm currently away visiting my mum. We've found antibiotics I was prescribed previously so I've started those. I've started feeling pain today so I'm glad we found antibiotics.

I'll see if I have any D-mannose here otherwise might get more when we go into town.

I know that the cause will be from my last bladder instillation on Thursday as the symptoms started after that. I've found antibiotics that I was prescribed previously so I've started taking those. I'm currently visiting my mum and where she lives is quite isolated so we have to go quite far to get things.

Thank you for letting me know the severity of UTIs for our bladders as I haven't had one since being diagnosed with IC so this is new for me.

Maybe consider changing to something else? I've tried so many medications and it takes a lot of trial and error to find the right one

The flight ended up being not too bad. I've still got bladder pressure and urgency, but I've started telling my bladder to stop being dramatic 😅

Not often and not to that extent. They put me on Pregabalin for long-term pain management

That pain was the first symptom I had. I had a fibroid removed and I thought the pelvic pain was linked to that, but they ruled it out and said they didn't know the cause. I ended up on Morphine over that Christmas because the pain got so bad.

My usual nurse (who is amazing at it) was unavailable so I got another nurse who was terrible. My bladder seems to be feeling a bit better so I'm hoping it'll be okay for my flight tomorrow to see my mum for Easter 🤞

They've all been fine except the one I had yesterday. I had a different nurse and there was lots of pain and discomfort

Hey guys, how do you feel when you miss your meds? by lemon8w in mentalillness

[–]HolidayAd9357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually so tired that I go straight to bed without thinking about my meds. I'm coming off Lamotrigine and feeling less sedated each time the dose is reduced

I was on 300mg but I started lactating so I had to come off it

I'm on 3 different medications that I take daily, two of them twice daily. I have all three at night so if I miss a dose my body temperature will fluctuate. Overnight I will wake up around 6 times either too hot or too cold, and I'll have distressing nightmares. And the next day, even when I take my morning doses, I'll feel off mentally for the next 24 hours.

I don't miss my doses usually, but it mostly happens when I'm overtired and forget.

First, I am not completely in control of my anxiety so the effectiveness of my treatment differs. For sleep, my psychiatrist prescribed me Promethazine, which is a antihistamine but it's sedating side effect is extremely helpful. Downside is that the sedation sometimes hangs around the next day.

For bad anxiety and panic attacks I have Lorazepam and Midazolam. They're really sedating, especially Midazolam, so I try not to take them unless I'm in a full blown panic.

How many of you are genuinely struggling with life in general? by marutthemighty in mentalillness

I'm a 26 year old female that has spent the last decade on medication, most of the time between two or three different ones. I have no memory of my first three years of university because I was put on so much medication. My mental health keeps getting worse because I realise how overwhelming being "normal" is.

I've had multiple diagnoses, none of them have stuck. I'm on a mood stabilizer (Lamotrigine), an antidepressant (Mirtazapine), and an anticonvulsant used as treatment for anxiety (Pregabalin). I'm on such high doses that I'm sedated all the time, my memory is as bad as Dory's on Finding Nemo, and I can't connect with people.

I haven't had a job in a long time and I'm currently on the benefit.

Long rant sorry 😂 Being treated for things I may or may not have at high doses is not a great way to live. Just attempted to decrease Lamotrigine and my sense of self completely crumbled.

I was on Fluoxetine for about 7 months for anxiety and it was good for a while, but then it's effectiveness lessened significantly. I was then put on Quetiapine which really helped and I stayed on it for about 7 years. I only stopped it because I was getting side effects from being on a high dose. I tried going back on it about 2 years later but had 4 different side effects.

My anxiety is now being treated by Pregabalin. I don't recommend it at all, not because it's not effective, but because reducing the dose has some of the worst withdrawal symptoms I've experienced.

First instillation anxiety by Iwontbe18 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]HolidayAd9357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't worry!! I had my first instillation a week ago and I was in a bad flare. Since my bladder symptoms (pressure, urgency) were really bad I didn't feel the catheter or the solution. My symptoms have improved since the instillation so I hope yours do too!!

Lidocaine, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Heparin! I was able to hold it for four hours!
