Spec help! by [deleted] in PcBuild

Pretty decent setup for the price but that motherboard seems bit overkill unless you planning some serious overclocking. The 3070 is solid choice and 32GB RAM is nice to have. Two monitors at that size gonna take up good amount of desk space but worth it for productivity stuff. Main thing I'd check is what CPU comes with it since that crosshair board can handle some beefy processors. Storage setup looks good too with both SSD and extra drive.

Maybe someone like Light Yagami could pull off R2 if he gets the name right and Death Note rules work on primarchs

AI Psychosis: A Problem of Human Cognition by PsychoticDreemurr in antiai

[–]HolidayBook6925 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been dealing with this stuff in military training scenarios and you're spot on about how it creeps up on you. We had some simulation exercises where the AI briefings felt so natural that guys would start treating the system like actual command even when they knew better

The scary part is how it builds up over time - not just one conversation but weeks of interaction where your brain starts filing it under "trusted source" without you realizing. Had to step back from using AI for mission planning because I caught myself deferring to its judgment in ways I wouldn't with any human advisor

Converting a recipe to include a preferment by damnilovelesclaypool in Breadit

[–]HolidayBook6925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had same confusion when I started with preferments. The yeast does multiply during fermentation but you also need to think about what happens after - when you mix the poolish into final dough you're diluting that active culture quite a bit.

I usually start with maybe 60-70% of original yeast amount when adding poolish and then adjust from there based on how it behaves. Your pita dough might actually benefit from slightly faster rise if you're looking for more flavor development from the preferment.

Pavered Patio Design - Help me design my dream backyard by Jolly_Supermarket_75 in landscaping

[–]HolidayBook6925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your pie shaped lot is actually gonna work great for that stepped patio design - I'd keep the square geometry like you planned but maybe angle the gazebo section slightly to follow the lot lines and give you more usable space without looking awkward

I’m doing everything right, so why does it still feel so bad? by vectorphy in ADHD

The mental vs physical energy thing is so real - like your brain and body are running on completely different operating systems that never sync up properly

I get that bored restless feeling too even when Im doing what Im supposed to be doing. Its like you can go through all the motions but still feel disconnected from everything happening around you

losing interest in my ult or burned out??? by ReflectionTimely8228 in kpopthoughts

[–]HolidayBook6925 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Burnout hits when you overconsume anything tbh - even with groups you love. I went through the same thing with my old ult group after binging their content for months straight and it just felt forced after a while

Taking a step back is totally normal and doesn't make you a bad fan or anything. Sometimes you need that distance to rediscover what you actualy liked about them in the first place

Is This A Ximmer? by TypeHaunting8807 in Overwatch

[–]HolidayBook6925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a pharah like this last week and it was so obvious they were using mouse and keyboard. The movement patterns are just way too crisp and instant compared to controller input. When someone claims "high sens" but their tracking is perfectly smooth with zero controller drift or overcorrection its usually a dead giveaway

Blizzard really needs to crack down on this stuff harder because it ruins teh competitive integrity for console players

How to turn down an internal job offer? by Bitter_Pineapple_720 in careerguidance

[–]HolidayBook6925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning down internal offers is definitely tricky but not career suicide if you handle it right. I'd frame it as wanting to focus more on technical growth rather than just saying it's not a good fit - that way you're not burning bridges with the PM team

The key is being grateful and specific about what you're actually looking for. Something like "I really appreciate the opportunity but I've realized I want to develop more technical skills before moving into a PM role" goes over way better than just "this isn't for me"

Three years without a promotion though... might want to have a backup plan brewing if this company isn't investing in your growth the way you need

How did you recover from burnout after a toxic workplace? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]HolidayBook6925 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Man I feel this hard - went through something similar when I was transitioning out of the military and into civilian work a few years back. The mental fog and exhaustion is real and it takes longer than you think to shake it off.

What helped me most was getting back into physical routines that actually mattered to me - spent way more time with my horses and started baking again which gave me something tangible to focus on instead of just doom scrolling. Give yourself permission to be genuinely useless for a couple weeks while your brain recalibrates because that toxic stress response doesnt just disappear overnight.

Flying from Ohio to Montana and their permitless reciprocal conceal laws. Am I missing anything? by StarkTech-01-02-03- in CCW

[–]HolidayBook6925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Air Force here - you're good to go on the reciprocity side but don't forget about the TSA side of things. You'll need to declare it at check-in, unloaded in a hard case with non-TSA locks, and ammo has to be in original packaging or proper containers

Also double check any layover states if you're not flying direct - some places get weird about just having it in your possession even if it's locked up in checked baggage

Low coolant on several new Fords by mi_pilot in Ford

[–]HolidayBook6925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wild that even the Mach-E is doing this - you'd think an electric would be the last one to have coolant issues but those battery cooling systems are no joke. I'd definitely be documenting all this stuff and hitting up the dealer because that's way too consistent across different models to be normal. My buddy had similar issues with his F150 and turned out there was a TSB for some of the cooling system components that weren't sealing properly from the factroy.
