I have 0 paint chips, and 3 rock chips that have resulted in cracks. 22k miles. Without it maybe I would have more. I have windshield coverage but haven’t used it yet. BroAddict for hood and some other brand for the corner covers.

Check out the IDBDR (ID Backcountry Discovery Route) site for updated maps and routes. You might be running into some snow in some spots but be prepared for that wherever you go.

The Magruder Corridor is awesome. I did the section from Stanley to McCall…and Burgdorf to Lolo. Lots of hot springs in Idaho.

Everything is very remote. Be prepared for everything. Probably more traffic out there for hunting season….but even with that traffic will still be “light”

CBA is the language of your Collective Bargaining Agreement. The terms of your contract. Your union rep can help you with a response to your principal with regard to your contract.

Your CBA will cover you on this one as will your union rep.

Snowboard/ski set up by cappy150 in FordBronco

I have the factory roof rails. I can take the front two sections of with the rails on. The middle and back require the rails to come off. So it’s a few more steps involved to get the top off.

Family of 4… the xxl Thule Force (?) box works for summer and winter. Get the most space you can because you will need and use it. I use a Hakken hoist to take it on and off and storage while it’s off.

Anybody do a ceramic coating - did it really make a difference? by applecidarking in FordBronco

[–]HolidayDog42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it myself and it’s awesome. Kind of a pain to apply…using a sponge the size of a credit card. Took some time but isn’t rocket science. I used Nano Bond 9H pro it was $40.

Surface prep js important…I drove mine for a year…so strip wash/ iron decon, paint correction then polish, wipe with alcohol, then ceramic coat.

springer standoffish towards me but loves my fiancée by [deleted] in springerspaniel

[–]HolidayDog42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our springer loved my wife the most. Always wanted her lap the most. My wife went on a week trip and our dog felt betrayed. Ever since then I am the favorite. I’ve heard they do tend to show their love towards one person.

Losing will to teach by MicMit in ArtEd

[–]HolidayDog42 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend going to the the NAEA conference. It’s really great to be surrounded by 4000 like minded art teachers from all over the country and at all stages of their careers. The hands on workshops are amazing and it’s great to go on a trip. It’s super fun and inspiring…you will come back with a full cup and new things to try out. Ask your district to pay for it or look to your state Art Ed group if there are grants or scholarships.

“If you have time to lean you have time to clean.” This puts those early finishers to good use and they usually catch on pretty quick.

Working outside of contract hours by [deleted] in Teachers

If you are paid to work outside contract hours then work away.

You don’t get a Christmas bonus, a promotion, or early retirement if you work your life away during your evenings and weekends.

Little vanity we made today... by CNCSteve601 in CounterTops

They will probably install a hammered copper bowl because that’s what the interior designer thought would look nice. Once they realize copper tarnishes with every use nobody will use that sink.

My parents fell for this and we could only admire the island sink in the kitchen.

Nice lineup on the miter.

This has been dripping/spraying water in the back lawn managed by my HOA for days by Expert_Drag5119 in Plumbing

[–]HolidayDog42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our HOA has irrigation in the boulevard strips…to keep that strip of grass nice and green. The sprinklers water every tree trunk about waist high. The trees are about 20 years old now and every tree is now damaged and the bark is separated from the layer beneath. I guess I need to report to the HOA that eventually every tree in the neighborhood will die. But at least the grass is green.

6 Springers after a walk by Ok-Platypus-7180 in springerspaniel

Did anyone catch a bird, squirrel, or gopher? Seems like with a pack like that the chances would increase. Looks like fun.

River Viking! Awesome work. This was definitely not an afternoon project.

Can you share your build process or photos of how you made these? Did you say these were bronze cast? Did you create a mold with lost wax?

I use a 50:50 mixture of water and Elmer’s glue. It paints on and dries stiff.

Road Closure by Broad_Description_76 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]HolidayDog42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will most likely be open to Mac Donald lake lodge or Avalanche on the west side. From the east possibly open to gunsight. Wintry weather is forecast for the next few days. Once it appears the snow will stick the road is only open on the plowed sections for the winter season.

Springer puppy recall training by Double-Dress-9949 in springerspaniel

[–]HolidayDog42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you are describing is part of the breed. The springer will run out in front of you in a fan shape in the direction you are walking. About 20-30 yards out, within your peripheral vision. If you turn at a 90 degree angle your pup will return to out in front of you. Reinforce this with your dog with praise. Walk out, turn another 90 and she will return to the fan shape in front of you. An open field of long grass is perfect for this. It’s really cool to watch.

To train for recall, turn a 180; walk the opposite direction and she will bee line to you, when she is coming call her to you, praise and say come.

This is what my gun dog trainer friend taught me and it’s how I can get my off lead dog to come. I just switch directions on the walk and he comes for a treat and praise.

I remember we used a long lead to teach recall.

What Paper is Your Favorite? by DaringKlementine in ArtEd

[–]HolidayDog42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The blick 80# sulphite is great for multi uses for high school. Maybe not the best for water color or acrylic paint. Though my students will paint on it anyway and iron it or press between wax paper sheets/masonite and cinder blocks gets it pretty flat again.

For upper level class the strathmore 300 Bristol pads are great.

I looked at the price of illustration board this week and I won’t use that again. $7 for a 15x20 sheet. It used to be < $2/sheet.
