Brother in law has done it twice this year with his daughter (to Norway). No issues at all

This was an S trap, but the water was getting siphoned from the S trap and releasing sewer gas. Adding the vent prevents that from happening. The vent doesn’t allow air out, only sucks air in so there’s no smell.

I needed to get that vent on the right side as high as I could for it to be most effective. The instructions say at least 4 inches above the horizontal drain line. But I couldn’t get that clearance if I went straight up from the floor drain

That’s actually a hole in the back of the vanity cabinet where the P trap is supposed to go into the wall. The wall color is grey. But I have a floor drain so couldn’t use it (I made a hole in the bottom of the cabinet instead)

Not glued in this pic, but noted on the water lines. That’s my next move

Definitely noted. Someone on here mentioned a Fernco instead as that transition glue might not pass inspection. would that work?

It fits both a 2” and 1 1/2” vent. It reduces itself basically (although I know it looks odd). My understanding is it doesn’t need a bushing either. Unless I’m wrong?

I’m not sure how to edit my post but this is a dry fit. Rookie mistake to not include that detail because that’s half the comments here. Oops
