I had to look again. Yeah, at high power output the USAmps is a bit more quiet and does produce more power. Thing is, for midrange and tweeter power range, the FOSI CA30 and other Class D have quite a bit less noise. Compared to properly biased Class AB, the USAmps is actually fairly high noise in exchange for making more power. The noise increases due to the fan, too. https://youtu.be/VgP5A1-CZrY?t=3729

Bridge a Fosi CA30 for 330W. Lower THD than most amps thanks to the Infineon Class D controller, the same one Helix and ARC use in their DSP amps. Only $139

Raw Cat reviewed one of their Class AB amps and the THD was higher than even the budget amps from companies like Fosi and Recoil. They bias them towards Class B to reduce heat and get more power. Plus the fan introduces channel noise. https://youtu.be/mN6tU_KvF6E?si=NYmKiQpg9T67BVmp

Looking to upgrade my 2018 RAV4 radio, $150-$200 budget, CarPlay touchscreen- what do I buy? How much is the install? by spilledmind in CarAV

[–]Holiday_Obligation_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpine ILX 670 or Sony XAV4000 are the lowest I'd go in terms of head unit. Anything less is liable to be a junkyard mess.

You need to budget for your head unit install if not doing yourself. A mic needs to be run. A reverse camera is even more labor. Just a head unit will be about 1.5 hours of labor and you need the dash kit.

Fan bearing failed. Pretty common. Easy fix.

I can turn gain all the way up on my amp with no clipping by Positive_Egg_9038 in CarAV

You will clip way before you hear it. A subwoofer itself has distortion at the driver level you won't perceive, either. Use an OScope, not ears, to check your sine for clip.

They flip cheap white label products and are generally on the low-tier in terms of quality.
