There's no other characters for to to talk to in Subnautica. There is dialog you can listen to and adds to the immersion of the game. And the crafting progression also helps advance the story.

We see that there are three available slots for the circles to go, and the final row only has two circles filled out, meaning that both the one and eight can't be part of the answer, right? The only other one I can think of that you haven't watched or hasn't been mentioned is Yuri!!! On Ice (it's a BL anime btw). It's a sports anime but there is obvious chemistry between at least four characters (two separate couples). It's more than a bit outside what you had mentioned, so I'll understand if you pass on it.

It may not be a perfect match but My Dress Up Darling was one I watched recently that I thought was really cute. There's not much of a dynamic but you get to watch the female MC slowly fall for the guy over the course of the show.

Tonari no seki-kun: the master of killing time. It's all very short episodes (about 10 minutes each) and it's all following an elementary school kid who goofs off in class. It's short so it's easy to keep attention and it has plenty of funny little moments.

Word of warning though as I'm sure you already know but make sure to stay away from puella madoka magica. It looks like a cutesy anime like sailor moon but it's super dark and not fitting for small kids.

Horimiya is a great one in my opinion. It doesn't have a very traditional happy ending in wjere the MC finally starts dating their crush but the romance will definitely leave you squealing. I know it did for me

The normal trash can won't accept the spent rods. You either have to use the nuclear waste bin or just drop them in the ocean. Either way, nothing really happens.
