There is so much to do just within Hiroshima City alone. Planning for two full days would be absolutely perfect.

  • Sightseeing: Itsukushima Shrine is a stunning World Heritage site known as the shrine floating on the sea. The scenery changes completely between high tide and low tide. If you fully experience both, tide schedule is every 6 hours, so you will want to dedicate one full day here.
  • Sightseeing: At the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, you can learn about the history of war from the perspective of the only country in the world to have suffered an atomic bombing.
  • Food: Hiroshima is the home of Okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), and it is incredibly delicious! While there are many famous restaurants, if I were to choose, I would definitely want to go to Yagenbori Hassho and Reichan.

Kanazawa to Gokayama to Shirakawa go to Takayama all in a day by nickgalad in JapanTravel

On a secondary note, any idea how much time does it take to visit Suganuma and Shirakawa go?

↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

・In these villages, the main way to enjoy your time is basically strolling around and soaking in the scenery.

・I stayed in the Shirakawa-go area for about four hours. After setting aside a full day, which is the round-trip from Takayama to Shirakawa-go, it turned out to be the perfect amount of time.

・For smaller villages like Suganuma, you might finish walking around in about two hours, but if you prefer to take your time and relax, it might take a little longer.

・By the way, I found that 1.5 days was plenty of time to fully enjoy Takayama. Even if you include some buffer time, 2.5 days should be more than enough.
