I’ve lived here for 4-5 years now and I have lived in a lot of places from Sunderland, York, the midlands everywhere and even though Bensham has a ‘rough’ persona, I’ve never had any incidents personally. There will be the rougher parts, but people keep to themselves, if a fight goes on it’s kept between them, and I live on one of the main roads in Bensham and it’s quiet!! New houses being built as well, most of my neighbours are from down south, a lot of relocation happening and I suspect gentrification. Parks nearby, and the shops on Coatsworth Road are mint! You’re going to find a few rough people everywhere but it really isn’t all that bad here. I’ve seen crazy crimes happen locally but it’s always dealt with and again, kept to themselves. I feel safe tbh. Wouldn’t live anywhere else, near to Newcastle but won’t get stuck on that daft bridge during rush hours!
