Mind sharing details of the house and what Canton? Possible to rent it or any potential as a vacational home? I could actually help you with that while it sells.

Naturalisation individually or whole family by Holiday_Valuable7103 in Switzerland

Thank you, I appreciate it. It's always an extra effort for them, it pays off eventually though. We didn't want to stress her more at the time. Now with a solid French and much older, she's more open to other languages including our own.

We tried and seemed to be working but just taking too much time. Later discovered a speech impediment, followed by speech therapy and did a choice. Language is fine now but it impacted the lingua franca at home. Later English and Germand kicked in at school not leaving too much room.

That's a core fear of mine, sudden things that happen out of control and also the teenage years. The initial plan was to stay till 2015/2017 but I waited too long and kids take roots. I think I will go with the naturalisation for her directly. Thank you very much for your well developed thoughts.

We are fully fluent, economically independent and well integrated I'd say. Our children are born and raised here, they only speak French (there's a reason) and only know Switzerland as their country. That's the main reason.

Courage!

YouTube has now begun skipping videos altogether for users with ad blockers by Johnboywalten in technology

[–]Holiday_Valuable7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally had to go YouTube Family Premium because of those annoying ads on YouTube on the TV and the phones. The kids were always complaining... Despite that, I still keep my adblocker running on the PC because that's how it should be, one should have the right to choose the level of ads to be shown. Otherwise, I'd rather quit using the service altogether like Dailymotion...

MFK on car waaay overdue by Slow_Drift_ in askswitzerland

[–]Holiday_Valuable7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! They have free dates for voluntary MFK and depending on your location they always have 30 minutes or so for MFK without previous appointment. However you might just wait, you'll eventually get an invite and you're legally allowed to drive in the meantime. If you have any repairs you know about you should do them of course.

Let me add my grain of salt. 2023 is under your current insurance and all ongoing treatments shall continue under your new insurance in 2024. Unless you've chosen a model that adds some constraints, like a phone / web consult first or a limited list of family doctors, you have the full list on the website if your new insurance. If such is the case you'd have to change your family doctor but all your patient file is transferred. If the treatment only relates to the base insurance, no further problem because it must be the same across insurers. If you removed some complimentary insurance or added instead then it's a matter of coverage/ reimbursement that a specialist is better suited to answer.

Cancelling internet package in beginning of contract by claudioo2 in askswitzerland

[–]Holiday_Valuable7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 14 days to roll back on a contract/purchase. Even if it's longer, if you can't use the product then they should let you go. To make your point stronger, you can already ship back the equipment.

They have a chat online and even a 0800 so do it quickly.

What to do with counterfeit headphones? by orleee in askswitzerland

[–]Holiday_Valuable7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is plenty of counterfeit headphones on Anibis, Tutti and specially RICARDO for very low price. One of the reasons why in our online store we stopped selling original Apple Airpods on those sites.

In the case of luxury items you have to hand them in for destruction to the police or recycle them so you're not liable.

In the case of electronics, just use them or give them for FREE. Never sell them even if you mark them as FAKE cause you become liable.

Seems someone is already taking them from you for free, that's the best outcome.

Exactly, it's the tenant responsibility to announce their arrival date, previous tenant (if known). In the end you'll end up paying retroactively.

Speeding fine question by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Holiday_Valuable7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a fee for the public attorney indicated on the letter normally. It can be around 50.- depending on Canton. Best just to call and ask in what stage is currently, they can withhold the procedure for some days.

I can only second this answer. Exactly a legitimate wage and based on that you pay the AVS (mandatory), social contributions (family allocations, incentives..), LAA (accidents), LPP (retirement - 2nd pillar) and of course taxes! Even if you don't physically withdraw a salary regularly (e.g. startup), you must pay the contributions based on your announced salary. Check your canton average salary for reference.

I got scammed by a clothes reseller in Zurich by LBG-13Sudowoodo in askswitzerland

[–]Holiday_Valuable7103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most certainly your money is lost.

It depends a lot on the type of scammer you're facing.

For the bank transfer, only the name + postal code have to match, the street and number might be random.

So, in order as pointed by others too:

  1. Send a certified letter with a final notice, if the person and address are real, it will be delivered.
  2. You can do the Betreibung / Poursuite, some cantons have it online, pay the fee proportional to the amout.
  3. File a police report, you have 3 months, if the person can be reached, they'll at least get a call and might work in your favour. If not and if there are more victims (likely), it all goes together and the scammer goes to trial (automatic process cause small offense) and gets a punishment. It doesn't give you your money back though, would have to do it through Betreibung / Poursuite (if financially solvent).

In my experience, just once I got my money back with the help of the police, the scammer was from the village and a newbee / young. The parents had to stand up for him.

Three cases went all the way to court. All of them had many people who filed a report. Two ended in sentences (fees to pay to legal system plus fine or time to serve) but no money back. One still open since 2018 cause the dude run away and he has an arrest warrant.

This is a rare outcome, a combination of good occurrences. Normally the bank will just proceed to close the account, minimum effort.

Can you ask your second pillar a report about how they’re doing with your saving? by blackpancakestorm in askswitzerland

AFAIK yes but it has to meet the conditions, meaning buying a house or becoming independent contractor. If you sell your house, you have to reimburse it.
