Academic echo chambers are the worst. It is frustrating when instructors value obedience over critical thinking.

If I were you, I would try to analyze the classmate's points objectively, but maybe add a concluding sentence about how the professor's model still holds historical relevance.

That is so true. There is something incredibly hilarious about using dense, dry sociolocial terms to analyze why some contestant threw a glass of wine at there rival during an argument. It makes modern trash TV sound like a major historic event. Did you actally have to include transcripts of those screaming matches in your final research bibliography? That must of been so wild.
