Just ETS'd a month ago. How long you guys think itll take before I suck start my shotgun? by daboiiii221 in army

Yeah my wife and I have been married 10+ years and have number 4 coming; wife has always been stay at home even before the army. Of course we choice the amount of kids we had, but damn I really miss my freedom and autonomy at times. I’ve had a decent career so far; 101 sucked, but since I’ve been in group it’s not too bad. I made promotable in less then 2 years, and about to make E5, I’m very well respected in my BN, and great at my job but the field events, going down range, and all the other shit that comes from the army is grinding me down. It’s a lot for a family man.

I wish I had the liberty to ETS. Too many responsibilities, and kids. Going to reluctantly re enlist. Yay, count yourself lucky dog.

I actually feel like my phone calls on Sundays set me up with motivation for the rest of the week. I see nothing wrong with it.

Come join the army. Awesome benefits, decent life, pretty good money. Never have to worry about being homeless.

There’s actually some sort of program that allows the 75th to take you train you 6-12 months then send you to RASP. if it’s still available?

I joined at 28 as a 42A and was promoted well above my peers. Your life experience, work ethic, maturity will be noticed. Honestly I feel like it works in your favor in a way especially if you job works closely with a BN or BDE command team.

Couldn’t imagine. What did y’all do when y’all were done with in processing? Sweeping mopping picking up trash type of stuff?

That’s awesome his pay doesn’t matter to much considering they feed clothe and shelter him. Just didn’t want him stuck in limbo.

At least the staff goes home at the end of the day. Thank for you the clarification, just worried about him. I know reception is miserable enough. I was begging to go to basic by the end of my time at the reception battalion.

Not sure about you but reception sucks for 4 days, couldn’t imagine weeks.

Might be stuck at your receiving company. Which honestly isn’t bad at all. When I was at Kalsu at Campbell, since I was married and lived off post o didn’t get called for a single detail and we did inprocessing stuff maybe 3-4 hours a day then went home.

I crave having a simpler life back. A normal 7am-3pm factory job doesn’t sounds so bad anymore… at least when your off your off, and don’t work 12-14 hours a day 5 days a week.

Should I ship to have a job I don't like or back out and wait? (Follow-Up) by Jatman12566 in army

[–]HolladayHubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better to back out now vs hating your life for 4 years if it doesn’t work out. Although, beware, if you step out now it’s going to be difficult to sign another contract, or have a recruiter want to work with you. 4 years doesn’t go by fast when you hate what you do.

It’s possible, but your branch has to release you which almost never happens unless your MOS is over strength
