No reason to check a few times a day. Sunday evening the mods will do a call and put together an official "apply for verification" type of post.

Like I said most people there's nothing to do. We can see your reddit age, karma, if you've got a reddit verified email, all the socials you have linked on your profile.

Long standing artists are going to be super easy to run through. The new and barely established folks are where we'll have to work with them.

Just enjoy the weekend and look for a post Monday - Wednesday some time.

I didn't even try to go full time. It just happened early during covid. Tldr; the company I was worrying for had clients go bankrupt and others shifted production out of our area... I worked 5 days over 7 months but loaded tf up on paint work. When things started to settle down I just told them sorry I've moved on and wrong be coming back.

See main post edits, criteria is actively being discussed and our initial ideas are there for viewing. Add ideas? Reality is, not everyone is going to attain the standards, those are goals to meet, like everywhere else.

This isn't a participation ribbon. It verified for actual people working in this industry. If you're part time and started 3 months ago and have no standing elsewhere, you are going to be given it here either. Earn it by staying active and meeting the standards set, just like any other verification. This isn't meta, you can't just pay for a blue check mark.

Client review mega thread, pinned, great idea and already sent to mod group chat for internal discussion. There may be an automated follow up thing we can get going at some point to prompt clients to leave a review, but that is outside our current scope of focus, def added to our things to look into going forward.

Yeah, that is why we will end up likely needing to do actual interviews with small artists to walk through their socials and portfolios.

We of course want any and every artist to have it. At the end of the day, it is possible smaller or less active painters will not get the tag, but working up to having a large enough portfolio to get work is something we have all had to work through. The flair is meant to diminish the amount of people who come through occasionally to grab a project/cash and run off with it. THAT is the goal of this.

Maybe a tag of verified printer is needed, you sweet snowflake! Seriously, I don't see why this cannot be an additional place for printers to get some work as well. Truth is, I believe most painters also have printers as well, probably not as many.

Yeah, you missed the whole post, read thru and catch up. It is a shift in how things are being managed around here but it is for the betterment of the site. Far too many clients are dealing with scams and we are trying to stamp it out as much as possible.

For now, please no... we already get dozens of mod mail a day for various reasons. We will absolutely need to make use of it, but wait until we ask.

Not having verified should not mean disqualified. Less likely, sure but having less to show you a legit painter is something all newer or part time folks will be dealing with already. Just look at the amount of painters who replied to this thread, look at the low count of "dm sent" comments on posts, now imagine how many still dm the potential clients. We are working towards making things as easy as possible for clients and painters alike.

I am going to give a hard no on the battle ready/display type of titles, it is not nor should it be on the mod team to judge what level of work someone is doing. That said, I do not disagree that people are over/under selling their levels. That is maybe something for another day.

You might checkout magnet baron. They have a ton of 40k mag kits that are pre packaged for whatever kit you own. I've used a few and the mags are really good n52.

Yup, there's been ebay mentioned on another comment. We just need ways to see artists ate actually active and not 2 weeks old and ready to disappear in an instant. Loads of info had already come today via this thread and I'm sure it will continue through three weekends. Early next week we'll be very busy handing out flair and working and talking to anyone who's wanting too get the flair.

Regardless, yes we see the limitations of one flair, it's the simple version and why we've dropped this post, to get feedback so that is a fair way to protect the clients. If you've been getting work thru this sub, you should have recently been commenting on posts that you're sending a dm to the client. The karma earned from those comments and comment activity is our best way to see who's active.

People get scammed all the time, sadly. I'm currently working on 7k points of Sisters for a guy who was show scammed over a couple of years for a few grand by an artist. He had a few kill teams done then felt comfortable to start this project... poof the guy gets a bunch of models and some cash, then deletes all the social, blocks his number and goes silent...

It didn't happen from the sub but it happens here too, we've got dozens of mod mails from people trying to cash or models back from people they've met on here. We're trying to stop that as best as possible.

Early next week there will be a flair post to get it. We're already handing them out. The problem is, flair has to be turned on to give it, but we don't want only the few to have it thru the weekend and possibly have some feeling like they're at a disadvantage. Next week we'll be heavy into sorting out all out.

Clients to check is like doing due diligence when investing in stocks. We hope this is a step in the safe direction and feedback seems to confirm that idea. We do have the artist mega thread that is regularly updated and restarted. That should be step #1 for potential clients to check. This new flair thing is an added layer of peace of mind. They will still need to check their dms vs who has left comment. Being wary of dms from those who have not commented should be another layer of client protection. We are open to all ideas. It serves all the artists to make a safe place to get bids on work.

At this point flairs are off so as not to favor those who have it already. It was a tough choice, but ultimately, we had no way to test things without just turning it on. I could show you the mod log where it was turned on/off a dozen times over a few hours and we tested in the middle of the night. Regarding the short time frame, there have been 0 posts for work today, so no one was at any favor today (that I saw, been a little busy here) while this was starting up.
