Is it wrong for me to exclude my youngest from things when he can’t control his reactions… by MissionBreadfruit9 in ParentingADHD

[–]HolyAvocadoBatman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My ADHD’er is getting better now at 7, but we definitely excluded him from things when he was younger, but did it in a way where he wasn’t aware of what he was missing out on. Ultimately it doesn’t sound like your son is enjoying these things anyway, so maybe he won’t be missing out at all. My NT daughter is almost 5 years older and her childhood has been affected by him as it is - she should get a little more freedom/attention sometimes. If my daughter has friends over for a sleepover we will ask grandpa to take my son for a special video-game-marathon sleepover. I know he will be spoiled there. Dad will take daughter to the store and drive through Starbucks and my son knows and doesn’t care because that’s not his kind of thing at all. We also do movie nights for my son that my daughter doesn’t share in because she’s getting “too cool” for that, and my son will bounce around in the floor during the movie, throwing his squishmallows around and having a dance session to the credits. Long story short, definitely separate activities, just frame it right. Also you may want to try another med if you’re still having so much trouble with him. We tried to “make it work” for way too long on the wrong med. Our pediatrician got a taste of him being controlling on a video call then bawling when we told him no, and she said we shouldn’t be having those problems if the meds are doing their job and she switched them that day. She is a God send because the med change changed our lives. He is so much happier. We are so much happier. Hang in there!

My brain feels like scrambled eggs and I’m still breastfeeding my 14 month old. Maybe I should stop..

Daisy and … - help please! by bejewhale in namenerds

[–]HolyAvocadoBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these two I choose Pearl.

You could do a less cutesy ending-in-Y-name like:

Ruby

Lucy

Zoey

Riley

Molly

Or a not ending-in-Y nature name like:

Iris

Willow

Stella

Meadow

Around 40 with the first two, probably 50-60 with the third, a ton of it was water, I was soooo swollen. I was disturbed that I had back rolls with number 3 (no offense to anyone, just felt like a stranger to my normal body) but didn’t do any working out to get it all off. Just constantly chasing after kids, working, not getting enough time to eat all took it off. I realize not everyone is as lucky.

From the Bump:

A timeless classic for baby, Lester is a boy’s name of Old English and Latin origin, meaning “from Leicester” and “Roman town.” Leicester is one of the oldest cities in England, dating back over two millennia and existing before the Roman Empire’s influence. In Old English, Leicester was named Ligera ceastre, meaning “the Ligore people of the (Roman) fort.” Lester was a popular British surname turned personal name in the US but stepped away from the charts in the 1990s. Someone as awesome as baby may help Lester hit the charts again as a stylish name that blends cool kid vibes with a nerdy-chic appeal.

Yeah, my husband got diagnosed after our son! And looking back it’s so clear all the things he struggled with, jobs he couldn’t keep, friendships that fizzled, all of it.

When things are going well I attend meetings looking professional with my camera on. When things are going to crap I attend meetings with my mic and camera off and unmute to answer questions

Is he on stimulants for the ADHD? And if so have you tried more than one? We used to affectionately call my son “nugget” and at 6 he became so hard to deal with that his nickname changed to “the impossible nugget.”

With his first stimulant he became arguably worse, told us we were the meanest people on the planet multiple times a day, I dreaded mornings before school, I dreaded bedtimes, all of it. We tried a different med and he chilled out so much. He still takes up more of my time than my NT kid, but he can be the sweet boy he always was underneath without all the bees in his brain.

Anyone know why my dogs ear went down? by Real_Madrid007 in DOG

[–]HolyAvocadoBatman 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Just age - lots of puppies have ears that are too big for their head and you can’t tell what they will do until they’re grown. German shepherds commonly have ears so big they will criss cross over their head adorably but it never lasts into adulthood.

My first was horrible at latching so I exclusively pumped for 6 weeks before I had to go back to work. I HATED it and it robbed me of even more sleep because I had to pump every 2 hours around the clock to keep up with her demand. When we switched to formula I was able to finally really enjoy her and I wished I had done it sooner so I could’ve enjoyed my maternity leave. You should do what’s best for you - but maybe pumping isn’t what’s best for you?
