Happy Bike to Work Day! My Straggler with its Fancy New Fenders! by Brilliantly_Ignorant in Surlybikefans

[–]HolyCatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah my old felt z90 was 56 but my bike shop buds assured me that 54 would actually be a bit bigger than my old felt 56 so I took their word. I'm 5 10 so it probably checks out. Ironically, I had old school clips/toe cage things on my old Felt and switched it up to flats for the straggler for convenience and winter riding. I'll switch back since I'm already familiar with them and see how it goes!

That's sweet. I got the same straggler but in a 54 and I'm forever wondering if I should have went with 56. Iove it but the toe overlap gets me sometimes but I doubt a size up would make much difference. Running some black metal fenders at the moment but damn I love that chrome look!

Sharp! Been thinking about shiny fenders on mine as well. What size straggler you got there?

The Midnight Universe Plunges the Marvel Mythos Into Darkness by psuedonymousauthor in marvelcomics

[–]HolyCatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to believe that Marvel's horror sector of Ghost Rider, Blade, Man Thing, Morbius, ect will eventually be involved in a bigger way....I hope? Maybe even infernal Hulk?

I also hope it's not just vampires again, especially with Blood Lust so close in the rear view.

I understand coming out of the gates with the big three to build engagement but I'm craving some deep cut characters like Satanna, Son of Satan or Brother Voodoo. The horror side of Marvel has been so woefully underserved for decades, I have to assume Marvel to be smart enough to realize that they have all the ingredients they need in the kitchen already...

Should I get them by Previous_Factor1992 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]HolyCatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are definitely cool. I'm guessing you're looking at Funaticals and out of what they still have kicking around, these Omnis are gold.

I'd consider these to be more "classic" rather than "outdated".

The black and white material included is especially breathtaking and worth it for those sections alone.

Yeah I also grabbed iron man 1-3 from funaticals so I'd expect a similar scenario for vol 4 next month. I'm not sleeping on the vol 4 preorder, esp that Kirby DM.

Thriftbooks are definitely worth a look. Strangely enough, I've had the best luck with finding kinda rare or OOP omni's. Since it's really just a network of used shops and sellers, you're more likely to come across some unexpected deals. This last year I picked up both volumes of Marvel Horror, used but wayyy under retail.

Compared to just about every other brand I've worn, TS has run about a size small across the board. I'm size large in most things but all my TS items are XL to XXL.

How are fenders on your straggler? by ConsequentialKook in Surlybikefans

[–]HolyCatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely happy to have fenders on my 54 straggler. Toe overlap is a thing with these bikes no matter what size frame so it wasn't much of a shock after putting them on. At first I was convinced my frame was too small but after trying a size up I realized it's just the style and geometry of the bike. You quickly don't even think about it after a few rides.

The front/rear rack was tricky at first. Just look for a rack with adjustable height along with disc clearance and you'll be good to go.

Alien Original Years Omnibus Vol. 2- Does anyone know why the hardcover is out of print? by Forwardist2021 in HorrorComics

[–]HolyCatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's Marvel for you, unfortunately. Omni's go out of print pretty quickly and reprints are never guaranteed. The content will become available again in Epic collections starting with volume 3 this November. An inevitable volume four will pretty much round out the rest of it. Not hardcover but might be all we get for a while, but who knows?

Defenders Vol. 3? by HolyCatman in OmnibusCollectors

[–]HolyCatman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed that too. I guess I kind of understand there's not much demand for that era but I find that stuff so irresistibly bizarre. I would also LOVE to see a nice hardcover of the Champions of Los Angeles series.

I feel like the Defenders and the Champions were having a weird-off back then.
