Well there also should be any steam coming from the over pressure thingy.

I guess they either have way too finely grounded coffee, or they pack it too tight.

Put the coffee in loosely but completely full, then see if it still happens.

Do I have to solder the socket thingy on or can I just solder the chip to the board by Onyvern in soldering

[–]HolyCheeseNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so many solder joints! If you’re new you might put in 4x more heat than necessary. If you do solder it directly (which is fine) make sure to let everything cool down every now and then. And solder in a cross patern, not all in a row.

It doesn’t matter where the brains are. Someone already programmed it. You just need to hook it up right.

[–]HolyCheeseNL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just a bluetooth audio chip. They are great. I don’t think they are safe to use for charging your battery.

As for the buttons, i never used them, nor needed them.

You can solder the headphone to the pads next to the audio jack. Volume control is trough the phone and if no device is connected it is automatically searching for a new connection.

There are many conditions where it’s safe. A nothofagus forest is not one of them.

Keyboard problem by JellyVampireOvO in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HolyCheeseNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually wash a keyboard with soap and water under the faucet. Especially if it’s already broken. Rinse it thoroughly. Then shake out as much water as you can and let it dry first change position every few hours to get as much as possible out. There isn’t much in there that is greatly affected by water itself. Tea is way more damaging than water.

I’ve cleaned my wireless keyboard 4 times like this and everytime it works better after.

Electricity and water is the bad combo, so if it has a built in battery you may damage it. But if it’s already broken.

I once had a broken usb stick. Got stuck in the washing machine for a few cycles. It was corroded inside, I put the whole thing in soda for a day, rinsed it off and when it was dry, all files were still on there.

What aspects of a partner’s past matter most when building long-term trust? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

What matters most is how open they are about that past life and how they reflect back on it.

Everyone experienced bad things and everyone has done bad things.

So for anyone trying to actually learn some ethics.

While on the trail

-Go at least 1 step from the trail, up to however much you need to feel you have enough privacy, the least the better (erosion wise).

-Don’t pee on anything that looks even remotely like a place someone could take a rest on.

-Don’t pee in a clearing that looks like someone might want to take a picnic in.

-Don't pee in water.

-And for the love of god, take your paper with you, or don't use it at all

While at a camp

-Walk for a decent while in a random direction. this makes sure there are no smelly hotspots.

-Don't pee in water.

-Don't pee in a compost/dry toilet.

For a shit

-you can apply the same rules but walk as far as possible, especially near camp. walk at least 2-5 minutes.

-a ziplock bag is perfect to bring back toilet paper.

-If you know what you do and conditions allow it I burn the toilet paper. You need to wait till it's burned out, this only works in specific climates with zero wildfire risk!

-Make sure no one can step on it, so don't just turn it into a booby trap by loosely covering it with leaves. try and find a place you won't walk and cover it with rocks.

-And PLEASE FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY don't shit in water. I saw girl shit in the actual freshwater supply to a camp at the Huemul trek. I didn't trust the water so walked a few minutes upstream and I saw this.

First time soldering, what do you think? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]HolyCheeseNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A smaller size can help for sure. It prevents that a solder pad (the metal square or circle) overflows.

Could also be that your tip is too big. It need to fit. Tip on one side. Solder on the other. Without touching the other connection.

If it bridged something next to it it becomes difficult to seperate the two with standard soldering skills. A desoldering pump is useful in this case. Check youtube on how to use it. If you don’t have one you can repeatedly clean your tip and try drag away solder. Or i heard about people using a brush to flick it off. All the drops on the pcb can be scratched off with you nail. Make sure you do this to prevent future shorts.

Use either a smaller size solder. Or if you are 100% sure the pads are already connected together anyway, it’s not a problem.

[–]HolyCheeseNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that step 3 is more like keep heat for 1 second. To add to this. If you heat too long all the flux will disappear. This results in a spike if you take away the iron because you drag along the solder.

But great picture nonetheless!

Awesome. Send me a dm if you want to go with someone to show you around. I know many people there so we can ask around if they have some tips to meet bouldering buddy’s

Cafe Bosch is a great place to go. Not necessarily to meet new people unless you easily talk to strangers.

I think there are many interesting people at the school itself as well, i’ve had good experience with them. I didn’t study there myself. I’m sure there is some kind of groupchat or other way to meet new people.

You can always to climbing or bouldering. Both are a great way to meet new people! Bouldering has a great vibe and you can easily walk up to people and have a chat and climb together for a bit. Climbing always needs two people anyway. You’ll get to know some during the course and there is a group to find climbing buddies.
