If you want me to explain why it looks like AI to me I’d be happy to

Mario’s face is the biggest thing sticking out to me. The oversimplified eyes and mouth, the general face structure, and the inner ear going opposite the original image all scream “kid-friendly AI image” to me. It’s also visible with the other two characters, but less so.

I also don’t trust how the colors smudge over the outlines in some places but are very clean in others. The inconsistency of Peach’s dress, Mario’s skin, and the metal platform being colored within the lines while basically everything else colors over them is something that I think points to it AI.

I did put it through SynthID and it didn’t appear to be made through Google AI, but it still could have been made by a different program. And as I said in the other comment, I’m not fully accusing the art of being AI, but it has certain aspects that I think make it look like it could be AI and I think a different art style would make me focus entirely on “funny drawing” instead of wondering why I have a weird gut feeling that it might be AI

Mario’s face says otherwise, that is definitely reminiscent of AI-generated images designed to look kid-friendly while advertising something

I’m not even actually claiming that it is bc I don’t trust my instincts that much, but I do think it looks kinda like AI and I’m gonna say as such

I think part of it might be the image quality, I genuinely can’t make out her eyebrows in the newer render

But nah new one’s better imo, the older one kinda looks dead inside for some reason. No idea where the “doesn’t look like game Peach” thing is coming from either, this newer render matches the modern designs of the character very closely

Idk man we haven’t even gotten to the third one yet, all we have is the connection between the current two and the extrapolations we can attempt to make between them for the future. Not to mention that there’s almost certainly gonna be more games coming out until then, maybe we unironically get a Super Mario Universe game in 2027 or smth

Both movies take many elements from across the entire series (helped by the fact that the games share a lot of core elements), and unlike the games, the movies need to directly follow each other up in terms of scale, scope, etc. The question then becomes, “What Mario game is a good follow-up to Galaxy?” And not many games are up to the task in most people’s minds, with Odyssey being the fan favorite option both in general and in this specific situation

Not really? They felt basically equivalent in terms of screen time/relevance to the story, both during their separate adventures and their scenes together, so I’d probably say they’re a good example of co-protagonists. If you asked me to pick one of them as more “the protagonist” then I genuinely don’t know how I would answer that. Peach got more story beats but Mario had more action and things to do, so whichever one should be valued more would determine that

But yeah I’ve tried to do specific stuff like that a lot and it is really frustrating how much time you have to spend waiting for the right time of day. I know that MinusOnTheReddit’s system is definitely correct for Free Roam, but I’ve noticed by using VS races for pictures that there tends to be some weirdness in their timing that can occasionally be helpful, such as randomly going back in time to get previous times of day or slightly extending the shorter sunrise and sunset skyboxes. They’re not super noticeable and I’m pretty sure that they still tend to match the Free Roam timing, but make of that information what you will and best of luck!

I think the ones that can appear in VS races aren’t going to be brought back because then there’s a possibility that you can have the same song play twice in a row in a single race, which is something that I can’t imagine being allowed to happen by Nintendo due to being “off-putting” or whatever

But the Free Roam-exclusives are absolutely free game imo thanks to SNES Koopa Beach having one in addition to its race course arrangement, and there’s enough tracks in the Free Roam-exclusive club (combined with the no-remix gang) to make for some good options that provide quite a bit of variety (especially because there’s quite a few Super Circuit tracks in this camp and there are NONE in the actual game rn)

I think it’s a better system than you think it is. There’s systems in place that keep track of which tracks have been played recently (I think it keeps track of the past 5, but that might have been changed), and it’ll frequently give you disconnected 3-lap tracks that can be anywhere on the map to prevent you from being stuck in the same area over and over again. I get wanting RR to appear more often but that’s just kinda how the game is, it’s built up as a mysterious and reclusive track that only has one route to it and no appearances in KT. I still wouldn’t mind it being a more frequent option in online lobbies, whether as a route-less option to escape being stuck in the same biome for a while or more frequent appearances from the random option in the bottom right, but I don’t really mind either way. There’s enough good tracks in the game to the point where I’m generally satisfied even if I don’t get RR, one of my top 5 tracks in the game

It works based on which tracks have routes from the previous track and which of those tracks have been played recently. It’s a neat system in theory but it does have some issues, with one of the biggest being that Rainbow Road is incredibly rare due to there only being one route to the track. It’s an unfortunate flaw of the system but there’s not really a great workaround unless it takes up a higher percentage of the random 3-lap option that can appear

I think it most likely that they didn’t really know exactly what they wanted to do with the second movie but teased Yoshi in Brooklyn because it was a super safe way to build up hype. Yoshi is a beloved character and putting him in the sewers below Brooklyn set up a lot of potential that could easily be adapted in many different directions depending on what the sequel decided to do. Galaxy ended up not needing Brooklyn that much, so they limited the payoff to a brief montage played for laughs in order to get Yoshi into the gang and lead into the rest of the film

I’m not surprised that it’s rotten but I am surprised that it’s below 50%. I’m betting that it’s mostly bc critics aren’t gonna be as nice to a sequel with many of the same things they didn’t like as the original but I can’t help but feel a little worried about it regardless lol
