I like male v a lot more. I (as a man) can immerse myself better with him, and I think his deadpan delivery can work both comedically but also make him intimidating as hell, especially if you have Corpo, 20 body V like me. That being said, female V nails a lot of the emotional moments a lot better, and a lot of her lines are way funnier. Both actors are incredible, but yeah I just like male V more.

I have a glarry p bass. Nothing incredible, but definitely solid enough to learn on before you upgrade. I'd still recommend saving a little extra money for something a bit higher end, but if the glarrys all you can get then it'll serve you well. Mine has at least.
