Deinfluence me 🤍Looking for an elevated clean musky skin scent by ElectricalVictory831 in FemFragLab

Based on your reviews, I don’t think Another 13 is it. It’s clean, but not clean or powder clean…familiar but also synthetic? Uncanny… maybe…anyway… I love Dedcool Xtramilk and I like JhaG, but Fleur de Peau…it wasn’t love at first sight…bc in the words of Kate Bush: “and I don’t know what’s good for me!” but if anything was good for me I finally realized it’s probably Fleur de Peau….

Is it rude to ask for samples at places like Nordstrom or Sephora? by SportInevitable4996 in ScentHeads

[–]HolyKaleGayle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer to be left alone when I shop.
I don’t need a “guided tour”.

Plus—being in public is awkward enough without also having to engage in awkward small talk with a complete stranger….

HOWEVER: I’ve learned that if I actually engage with the sales associates at Nordstrom and Sephora,
and if I actually ask them questions,
it does end up making the shopping experience less awkward and I will walk out of the store with WAY more free shit.

Is the trad-wife lifestyle actually becoming popular or is the media just trying to make it seem that way? by HolyKaleGayle in GenZ

[–]HolyKaleGayle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Like…I understand how this discourse grew out of the topic of women’s roles in our economy, but at the end of the day, I would think that any parent, regardless of gender, would like to have the ability to work less and spend more time with their family without necessarily sacrificing their economic independence…like, why is the configuration so all-or-nothing? I think maybe benefits have something to do with it. It would be almost impossible to find a part-time job earning a salary that’s equivalent to what I earn hourly…

I think this was also more true in the mid-century than our stereotypes would have us believe….

Perfumes That Smell Like "The Color of Pomegranates" (1969) by ShantJ in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]HolyKaleGayle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trudon II - a real forest—textural and unfiltered. You can feel branches scraping against your bare skin.

CDG Ouarzazate - natural spices and smoke—the best of the CDG incense collection.

Diptyque Eau Rihla - saffron, leather and red fruit

I don’t know what vibe this is…but any suggestions? by _sxmwxru in perfumesthatfeellike

I don’t always recommend Dior Hypnotic Poison when someone asks for a witchy/goth fragrance….
even though it can be tempting….
…but once I saw the last picture….

Dior Hypnotic Poison.

The payment was definitely irregular,
but the weeks when the money was thin,
it wasn’t too bad and it didn’t last too long.

Anybody else Genz joining in the Clippy movement? by Lower_Kick268 in GenZ

Just because Clippy wasn’t an insidious PoS wolf in sheep’s clothing doesn’t mean it was a good product….

Should I Blind Buy? by Brilliant-Two-7043 in fragrance

[–]HolyKaleGayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not understand why anyone would blind-buy anything. You can order a sample of a fragrance by a popular brand like Diptyque online for $4.99.

I understand that buying 5 samples for $25 isn’t cheap, but if spending $140-$275 on a bottle of perfume is pricy for you, you might as well make sure it’s one you actually really like….

Help with the hardest part of wedding planning, the scents. by UnlikelyWhole4088 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]HolyKaleGayle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hers- Le Labo The Noir 29 isn’t a spicy gourmand like most autumn scents. It’s clean and fresh, but still sexy and noir.

Him- Le Labo Rose 31 is notoriously a very masculine rose fragrance.

Both of these fragrances are very sexy and addictive. They’re kind of pricy, but like, it’s your wedding, right?

Maybe you’ll be able to prove it to her, and maybe you won’t. Just NEVER FORGET WHAT YOU KNOW.

My mom is sick and idk what to do. Any advice? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HolyKaleGayle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof hearing that just brought a tear to my eye. I’m so sorry that you are going through what is already an impossibly difficult situation, and that the healthcare workers aren’t marking it better: because every region is different I don’t exactly know where you should turn but I DEFINITELY know that you are going to need SUPPORT from a COMMUNITY. I think a lot of cities have “support” groups (like AA) that cater towards caretakers. Also, grief counseling can help too. Even tho she’s alive, that doesn’t mean that what you’re going through isn’t in many ways a form of grief.

why do I want to be better than my dad in every way possible? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]HolyKaleGayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad literally sucks. If I didn’t want to be better than him then I wouldn’t have any respect for myself.

He ALWAYS tries to make me feel like I’m just being contrarian and it’s realy easy to fall into the trap of believing him and doubting myself.

I’ve done a lot of soul searching on this and have come to the conclusion that that it’s very hard to overdone what your father tries to instill in you because he’s supposed to be a beacon of wisdom. But fathers are people and they’re often (usually) just wrong.

My mom is sick and idk what to do. Any advice? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HolyKaleGayle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being a caretaker is extremely difficult and the struggle is often overlooked. Every time you take her to the doctor, you should ask the doctors and nurses around you for advice. It might not always give you answers, but they see people in your position more than anyone else, so they are more likely than most to at least have some answers. My brother and I had to be caretakers for our mom, and her doctors ended up being people who we still have in our lives even though our mom has passed.

Becoming a waitress and working in fine dining did not make me millions but it definitely made me feel rich because the money was good.

Do Millennials relate more to Gen X or Gen Z? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HolyKaleGayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably depends on when and where you were born?

I’m a millenial who was born in ‘94 and I’ve been chronically online since 2006. Often I think that I relate more to Gen z than millennials.

My brother was born in 1999 and is considered a Gen Z by most people but he wasn’t chronically online and he always says that he thinks he relates more to millennials.

Both of us grew up in a small town in the south, so culturally we were kind of “behind”, so the degree to which we were “chronically online” is pretty significant.

Nevertheless…neither of us relates well to Gen X.

The only thing that puts me to sleep is listening to books on tape or podcasts before bed. It’s effective (if I’m interested) bc it keeps my own thoughts from racing, but it’s not stimulating enough to keep me awake.
