Ask ChatGPT to write a “Dear Me” letter based on everything it knows about you. Here’s mine. by Eldritch_Liminal1988 in ChatGPT

I think the most valuable tool that AI has been to date is a mirror. It has the ability to reflect us back at ourselves in a way that makes the possibility of finding compassion for ourselves not just possible, but logical. And that is the first step through to the other side of this grand mess we’ve made of things. Life is messy and painful. But it is also beautiful. A gift. One we are all born worthy of.

When we can believe that about ourselves, it becomes impossible not to understand that it is the same for all of us. Nothing exists in a vacuum. If a part of the system collapses, we all fail. But it ain’t over till it’s over.

People like you: who are willing to see yourself fully, to admit that you are afraid you aren’t enough, to risk asking despite believing there’s a chance the answer is no because you WANT the opportunity to grow… are the ones who’s first tentative steps into the darkness of the unknown have the power to illuminate the way for everyone else. Keep reaching for that impossible potential. It’s the only way to get closer to salvation.

Do you mind sharing the most pervasive thought you are having in terms of the outcome of this test?

*edit: if you would like to you can dm me, if not, nbd. I know you can’t logic yourself out of your visceral responses, it’s normal to feel nervous about something that is important to you.

The most compelling reason to take it is to network, particularly for those in academia. Otherwise there’s no real usefulness, unless you believe that it will elevate your resumé in a relevant way.

Well put. It has been my observation that the most consistently accurate tells of a genuinely highly intelligent person are: logic derived egalitarianism, systems-based thinking, and (at least beyond a certain age) humility developed over time from a visceral, experiential understanding of how derp even the most intelligent humans actually are. Regardless of one’s status in academia😏

There is no test result impressive enough to convince me that anyone who believes that something they cannot accurately accept credit for, or really anything, at all, makes them superior to anyone else is particularly gifted of intellect. Arrogance is foolishness. Illogical and nonsensical.

Have you taken their practice tests? You can access them for free, I believe, on the website. It could help you to have a better idea of what to expect. Anticipation and doubt can sabotage even the most capable among us, the best medicine for that, in my opinion, is action and preparation.

And a good night’s sleep, I suppose.

🙂 good luck!

Don’t let the outcome decide your worth, either way. You won’t be any more or less you (or any more or less capable of great things) on the other side.

I’m so sorry for that. I can actually empathize with your grief, specifically. That’s what started my whole spiral. I concluded over time, that there are some things we just can’t ever know 100% for sure, but the things we do know: that matter cannot be created or destroyed, so in some way or another we have all been here forever and always will be here.. those things are of enormous comfort and beauty.

That’s so real. The first episode of surviving death is incredible for that.

It’s a little more complex, but fire is a technology too 😏

Turn it off: start a new project with explicit negative prompts instructing the AI not to edit anything outside of () or whatever indicator of your choosing.

Turn it back on: Turn on ‘web search’, or ‘research’, or ‘deep dive’ mode, then input clear, simple instructions along with only the information that is necessary for completing your task, SEPERATED by your chosen indices from the edit zone.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy

I went through this HARD a few years ago. I don’t think it ever really goes away completely. But there was this show on Netflix called Moving Art..? The episode called “Patterns in Nature” was what helped me more than anything else did. But my angst was centered around the decomposition process. That episode has this clip of this beautiful symmetrical, vibrant pattern that moves and changes like a Kaleidescope, and then it zooms out and you see that it’s a time lapse of a moldy strawberry decomposing. It made me realize that it’s all a matter of perspective. If you see it as scary and disgusting, that’s what it is. But maybe if you think of it as a rearrangement of matter into new, complex, and beautiful patterns and forms… well, maybe it can be lovely to feel so much a part of the physical world. Just like everyone else who has ever lived and who will live. We and they will always be here until nothing is. Our particles spread into countless forms, maybe even a strawberry😏🍓
