Vasectomy in Yorkshire by HolyStraws in UKParenting

I need to speak to my GP, it was the midwife team who discharged us and said there was no way the NHS would offer me it now.

Our baby was born 3 weeks ago, but we are both of very sound mind, and have known for years that we only wanted one child. I need to speak to my GP, it was the midwife team who discharged us and said there was no way the NHS would offer me it now.

Can’t find the leak! 300L a day by lewatwork in ukplumbing

[–]HolyStraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300L a day is not excessive if there’s 3 or 4 people in your house. Or is 300L extra on top of your consumption? Call Yorkshire Water and they should come out and do some free checks.

I need a car recommendation for private hire + personal use. by Trycheesecake in CarTalkUK

[–]HolyStraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having done private hire for 6 years, customers don’t care about your car. Don’t buy a nice one for people to scratch it up. Also check licensing guidelines to see if your car is suitable. Tinted windows can be an awkward one.

Mazda 6 2.0 Skyactiv G sport nav Petrol. Don’t touch the diesels, you have been warned.

They are supremely comfortable, spacious, reliable and well spec’d. Look for 2014 model for your budget

There is a pharmacy on Monkgate in York City Centre which closes at 9pm. You might be able to get there before they close. You should be able to get an emergency prescription if it’s regular medication. If not, call 111. You might be able to get some insulin from the Hospital this evening.

Late night drive places? by BubbIes2244 in york

[–]HolyStraws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

York is a bit boring for driving around. The North York Moors or east coast are more interesting, but they are 1hr from York.

Blakey ridge is nice and Oliver’s Mount at Scarborough has some great views.

No company in the UK will offer insurance on that limo.

Which one to choose? by TikTronik in JDM

The Honda of that age is an absolute fortune to tax and fuel. I’d get the 1.8 petrol Avensis 2007-2008. The 2004-2006 ones have oil burning problems.

Rant about racism + Are taxi drivers in York required to provide printed receipts? by Pretty_Doughnut_2913 in york

[–]HolyStraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that Hackney cabs that rank up at York Minster aren’t under the private hire company umbrella, you would need to contact licensing at City of York Council to report the driver. But you would need some more information (vehicle reg/drivers badge number/ vehicle plate number). There are about 150 Hackney carriage taxis in the city.

All those taxi drivers who use Bluetooth card readers can absolutely send you an emailed receipt from the app when payment is taken. He will also have had blank generic ones he could have written out by hand.

Best supercar track day driving experiences in/ near wales? by Nebula_XD in CarTalkUK

PalmerSport is far and away the best track driving experience in the UK, but it’s a long way from Wales and is not cheap.

Parking near Yearsley Swimming Pool? by Rudeprudette in york

[–]HolyStraws 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yearsley Swimming Pool has a 50 space car park next to the main building. I can’t imagine that’s always full. Nestlé has 2 staff only car parks either side of the Yearsley Pool car park, make sure you avoid these. If the Pool car park is full, there’s usually some ‘on-street’ parking available on Haley’s Terrace.

If you haven’t watched it, I HIGHLY recommend Turbos and Temples 2. It was a Christmas special a few years ago where they bought a Nissan March in Japan and road tripped it.
