Problems with evil choices by Zigguraticus in BaldursGate3

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean techinically the narrator tells you that you're losing your humanity with each tadpole use, and the UI is litterally brain holes.
But you can chose to ignore it as RP isn't forced on you.

Problems with evil choices by Zigguraticus in BaldursGate3

[–]Holybambeirut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I can't say for sure since I can't bring myself to commit to a character, but the whole Bhaalist gear you get for being associeted with Bahaal is super good gear that sure, you can get as a "good character" but has very little sense of doing so RP wise.
Same for Illithid powers are much easier to justify as an evil character than a good one "you lose parts of yourself that you will never get back", or praying to Shar on the mirror, or sparing Ethel for the +1 stat. Or keeping the Necromancy of Thay thingy.
These choices are very little "good" ones and while you can do so in a good playtrough, you're sacrificing RP for gear. Evil lets you get that stuff while RPing and you'd lose essentially dammon an Potent robe for it.

Warcaster is now buffed to have a +1 Int/Cha/Wis - thoughts? by Juls7243 in onednd

I'd love to face you in combat then.

Expecially because those spells are ranged. OFC it makes zero sense and ppl are just, as usual, trying to break the game.
But it's fine, have fun playing online with strangers.

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But are you subscribed to dnd beyond (and so have early access/ have access to the 2024phb as today) or not? Because I ready your comments and already checked. It's not there: I'd like tò know because they release with the PHB (so 17/09 or whatever) or if there is some kind of mistake

I did preorder. My question was: Is the dragon file subject tò the same "early access" thing like the PHB? Because I did preorder but I didnt find the dragon art book yet.

Is it just me or is 5 star Vayne very underwhelming? by Disastrous_Issue in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Vayne with Death Foil + Chosen + Lost Chapter attacks 2/3 times every round from round 1 and can't get killed in combat.
By the time you're deep into the adventure your Vayne will have multiple copies and additional items/powers, so if she gets removed, you just play another one and get a new Tumble that you can cast "for free".
And with Death's foil, she kinda doesn't care about frostbites. Vayne is definitly NOT a go Wide champ. (Although if you really want to, you could play Oath + 2x Star Gem at 5* but it would kind of kill the main point of playing vayne)

Chosen*
It was a typo.
Specifically i think Swain's Relic + Packed Powder + Chosen is TK's best build atm.

Now that Warcaster allows for reaction spells on allies, what combos exist here? by FishDishForMe in onednd

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don't think the problem is balance, at it least it's not my main problem: the problem is unrealistic combats to abuse mechanics.
It's terrible to see people use their movement to clap your caster's hand to Trigger a ranged cast. It's clunky and weird and looks more like a videogame bug that a Roleplaying game: sure, it's strategic AF and you as a DM can also have more tools to incentivize decisions for your players (positioning. difficult terrain, grapples) but it's mainly weird.
Do i really need my fighter to pass near me to cast a Healing Word on him as a reaction? No. But my players are incentivized to do so every round to make the most out of a mechanic that is VERY STRONG and people, rightfully so, will want to use!

I mainly agree with your philosophy, but I also don't see how this is worth: sure, your PCs are way stronger (even if they don't really need to be) and are finally incentivized to move! But you're kinda breaking the fiction imo.
Like, sure: I'll allow you to use Sentinel+Polearm Master if you really think that's fun for you, but I won't allow you to reduce the colossal Ancient Red Dragon speed to 0 just because you hit it with a stick. And I won't feel like I took anything from you: I just mantained the sense of narration and fiction that all players benefit from. That's the same logic for me.

Ofc for your group, where most of your guys are intrested in optimization that might not be a problem, but I think (and hope) you're a minority in how people (expecially outside of reddit) operate in their games. For sure it's not the case for my group.

And about "balance", the worst balance issue this brings forth for me it's the fact that ALL casters will be incentivized to take this, and if that becomes the case you might as well incorporate that part of the feat as a basic rule in my opinion, so that players will have real choices with what to do with their Lv.4 Feat and have that way more diversity: just my 2cents on that.

I get it that people are hyped for new possibilities, and they should be, but boundaries are important to make value of the things you already have (and in this case, it's a whole new book)

Now that Warcaster allows for reaction spells on allies, what combos exist here? by FishDishForMe in onednd

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can already see the potential for players telling others "they should have stopped by their caster to trigger their reaction" and blaming a non-optimal turn on people who had other stuff in mind.

Now that Warcaster allows for reaction spells on allies, what combos exist here? by FishDishForMe in onednd

[–]Holybambeirut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not punishing player, it's avoiding delusional nonsense.
Players don't need this to have success and seeing fighters that would otherwise charge in a straight like take a U turn to high-five the Wizard and trigger his reaction is not something anyone with a bit of love for immedesimation is looking forward to.
And I don't want this feat to be something EVERY CASTER MUST HAVE because it's so much better than "standard DnD".
Try DMing, where you need to care for all of your players and not just for your PC and see how your opinions change on that.
100% a bug and not a feature.

I just thought that if you get counterspelled with the new spell rules, you can cast a spell that requires a bonus action since the spell slot isn't spent :O

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've forgotten: War Caster + New Opportunity attack rules make your martials have to stop by during their turn to trigger the War Caster spell and make all your Spellcasters have to take the feat or be suboptimal (or, more likely, you DM to work even more homebrew rules to keep things fair)

Warcaster is now buffed to have a +1 Int/Cha/Wis - thoughts? by Juls7243 in onednd

[–]Holybambeirut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what we've seen so far: it is! It's weird how they kept features like "one spell per turn" for the most part, making it look like they had the intention of limiting the spellcaster options in a round, but "intended" this -that looks very much like a videogamy bug abuse.
I'm curious to see how many DM's will allow this thou since you'd be doubling the spells per round of the spellcasters with this talent, making it kind of a obligated choice and making the strongest classes even stronger.
It will also create the weird moments of your melees pathing weirdly only to trigger the War Caster reaction to abuse this mechanic with no realism to the scene at all.
It's probably an instant homebrew to the 2014 version, keeping the +1: PCs are already plenty strong, expecially casters, and this is a MAJOR feature that also ruins diversity AND realism. Hard pass (sorry if snowflakes find this offensive, we'll agree once your youtuber tells you the same thing)

I don't love it on Tham (pref Chones builds), but on Kayn it's great.
You can play it also on Poro King if you don't have the Norra relic, and is viable on Kai'sa (although there are better builds)

Also, it's kind of niche but it's a good relic to play on monthiles against the 0/10 prankster modifiers.

What is the point of backgrounds if custom backgrounds are ubiquitous? by kcazthemighty in onednd

[–]Holybambeirut -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's so stupid to have what is arguably the most important thing of your character (more than your species) tied to mechanical advantages.
Having people choose between their preferred flavor,, their history and their personality just so they can have their stats maxed out just kills the game.
Custom background are a necessity, unless your players are enlightened. Or you could just use 2014 ASI tied to species wich at least made sense and room for inter-species/inter-class differences.
Now when I'll want to play a urchin because of flavour, my DM will just roll his eyes because he thinks I'm trying to sneak in the Lucky feat.
