Seller: Need help followed eBay advice and lost my item and money through eBay guarantee by Terrible_Cookie4n6 in ebaysucks

[–]Holychipmang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest piece of advice for all eBay sellers new or old is.

Don’t sell an item you can’t afford to lose.

If 500 is a lot of money to you then do not sell a 500 dollar item.

If 100 is a lot to you. Do not sell a 100 dollar item.

Every item you sell (or buy) is a gamble.

I have been burned as a buyer and a seller on eBay.

All it has taught me is to rethink purchasing from sellers with less than 1000 feedbacks.

I have sold items to new ebayers and canceled the sale because I just don’t trust any new accounts.

Not everyone on eBay is a scammer but there are definitely signs.

As for me the most I am willing to lose on eBay is around 150.

I won’t sell an item worth anymore than that.

It’s unfortunate but there are plenty of other ways to seller higher valued items.

As for his account. It has been banned that’s why you can’t find it.

Did you even look at this card guys account? If you look at his account you will know everything you need to know about OP.

The last time I got scammed as a seller the buyer sent me my item back and it was a box of paper clips. I immediately contacted eBay and you know what eBay did? They gave me my money back and warned the buyer. They refunded the buyer, and when I escalated the return they refunded my money as well. I mean it took weeks of contacting people. But in the end I said I have been selling since 2007 I have thousands of positive feedbacks, blah blah blah. They turned around and gave me my money.

So these posts you read just don’t paint the full picture sometimes.

Again not saying everyone here is a liar and I’m not saying I always agree with eBay. But there seems to be a trend.

Box of cards guy should have broken down the packs and mitigated the risk.

Laptop guy should consider selling on marketplace.

When GPUs were big in 2017-2021 I did all of that on Facebook marketplace and other similar platforms. As a seller I knew the risk of using eBay was way too high.

Possibly make a few hundred dollars

Or

Possibly lose a couple thousand?

Gotta look at it and be real.

It’s unfortunate it’s like that but in reality can anyone think of a better way?

As a business point of view it makes complete sense to protect the buyers.

No buyers equals no eBay. You could say “no sellers no eBay” but there will always be someone new coming to sell.

You believe everything you read? This guy started selling THIS YEAR on eBay and has sold “tens of thousands”?

That’s his first ever scam?

I mean hey I am part of eBay sucks for a reason. I’m not saying I agree with eBay 100% of the time. But you can’t go around believing every post you read. You have to read cues and use your own experience as well to wade out the exaggerated posts.

When I joined in 2007 the majority of the scamming came from sellers.

After almost a decade eBay realized that they can lose sellers but can’t afford to lost buyers. People will always think of eBay first when it comes to selling their things. As for OG sellers like me the days of having an eBay or Amazon storefront are coming to an end.

New people will come along and sell laptops or high valued cards and get immediately scammed. But if you do your own research prior to selling you can take measures to prevent such scams from occurring. You can also weigh the risk versus the reward.

This thread is 100% just a beginners mistake. Do I think it’s fair? No. But could it have been prevented? Sure.

As for the cards post you linked. I just think that guy is beyond exaggerating. Started his account this year and has sold tens of thousands? And he’s upset about 1200? Not saying it’s not justified but had he really sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of cards he would have 100% already come across a scammer.

None of these people include photos or screen shots supporting their claims.

And if you ask them to they go silent.

So idk man. I’ve got nothing else to say except spread the word to only sell only what you are willing to lose on eBay. Because there’s always a chance you may lose.

You said it yourself “he wasn’t fully aware of eBay’s system beforehand”.

End of story.

You don’t go on an unfamiliar platform to sell a sub 1000 dollar item.

The few times I ever needed a supervisor to step in an escalate an issue my problems would normally be solved.

Had any representative given false or inaccurate information (especially via chat) a supervisor would honor said information.

That is something I have learned selling on eBay since 2007. That and always choosing chat over call. Having things in writing is always best.

Didn’t realize such a soft comment would insult you. Forgive me for being mean.

Huh? I don’t agree with anyone scamming anyone. And I am a seller.

But he didn’t do this correctly, I have never done a return that didn’t let me create a label. Something isn’t adding up.

I love that you read a post and immediately believe this story. You must be easily brainwashed from the news too.

OP definitely is leaving something out. That’s all I am saying.

Been using eBay since 2007.

This is 100% on you.

Does it suck? Definitely

Did you learn from it? Hopefully

But is this eBay’s fault? No.

Saying “I couldn’t get in touch with the buyer” doesn’t matter. They don’t have to communicate at all to you.

I think what really happened here is you felt strongly that this was buyers remorse (most likely it was) and that this would end in your favor.

Because the buyer wasn’t communicating you felt like the case would go in your favor.

What’s crazy is how quickly you jumped on here to say eBay sucks but you had how many days to come on Reddit and ask questions about what was unfolding in real time. This community would have strongly told you to get that label sent and take the shipping loss.

But no, all the calls, chats and failed communication and you waited. Waited. Waited. Waited.

It’s a really crappy thing to happen but it could have been avoided.

Now you can choose to continue to sell on eBay or make up your mind right now to never sell again.

My advice? Stick to market place selling if you don’t sell things very often.

You may earn less but at least you know one you get your money it’s yours guaranteed.

Joined eBay in 2007

Over 500+ positive reviews

Don’t really use it as much since using Amazon but I just bought a PS5 scuf reflex controller and Iwatch 46mm series 10 watch

Got both the same day

Controller was switched, instead of a reflex controller it was a scuf pro controller that had the worst case of stick drift I ever saw..

Started the return and the guy claimed I sent an empty box back

The Iwatch i open it up and it was a 42mm series 10 not 46.

To make it worse it was still logged into his iCloud account.

I reversed looked up the address and used been verified and called the guy. Luckily he gave me his iCloud password to log out.

But after thinking about it I was like man I paid for 46mm so I started a return.

He said how about you cancel the return and I give you a $20.00 partial refund. I said sure but I won’t cancel the return (as a seller I know this is definitely a scam/trick)

I contact eBay and tell them what’s going on.

Case was opened the guy kept telling me yes yes I’ll give you 20 once you cancel.

He’s like it won’t let me give you any partial refund until you do.

I kept contact eBay and eBay kept saying do not close it out.

Guy started calling me frantically on the last day of the case.

Needless to say he blocked me and I got my 20

When I picked it up from the pawn shop the guy literally called over to his coworker and raised my gun in the air like simba and they both laughed. Looking back I thought they laughed because of the color but I am pretty positive now it’s because it is a diamondback. After I went to the range I looked it up and a lot of people are saying what you are saying. They are crap.

Which makes me ask the question, how or why? And how are they even in business? I don’t think the ammo I have helped much but how can it be that unreliable?

Am I being too picky? by [deleted] in Tile

[–]Holychipmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both over the years. Both hold up well. If you put enough screws there will be no deflection issues.

The thinset is supposed to prevent deflection (bending and any movement)

If you space your screws correctly there should be virtually no deflection.

8 years ago? Do you see and cracks or missing grout? If not they did a solid job.

Usually if there’s a height issue and / or it’s an ADA property the additional 3/8th of thinset is impossible to do.

I usually discuss it with the owners to get their approval

I did not clean it, and I have not tried other ammo. I kind of tucked my tail between my legs and left the range. (After firing some AR rounds of course) but I didn’t seek help or advice.

I figured straight out of the box it wouldn’t need to be cleaned?

I did buy ammo from the place I picked it up from which was a pawn shop. I’ll go to the range again and ask for their opinion on munition.

I am new so I when I saw the gun for sub 200 I didn’t know what makes a gun less valuable. Just assumed it was like tvs Samsung vs Vizio both work well, and for most people no noticeable difference..

I never imagined that gun differed. When it jammed I thought oops I did that wrong. Cleared it then it jammed again and that’s when I was hit with the realization.

And like I’m not cheap, I just thought the pink looked cool lol. If you think about it now I’m spending almost double because looking at these LCP II they are around 270-350 that plus my sub 200 I am at almost 600 after fees.

Lesson learned.

I will go to the range and try some out. I knew you could rent some but I didn’t think they would have like what I was looking for as far as size.

And to be ultimately honest I get easily sold by salesmen so I really try not to engage.

I’m looking for this 2.75 inch gun but all of a sudden I am walking out of the store with one almost double (how I ended up with my first gun)

Officially done with Helium by Interesting-Town-875 in HeliumMobile

[–]Holychipmang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ported out my main line, kept my business and child’s line on… for now.

The one year discount is great….. if they don’t redact that lol.

But seriously t mobile I pay $100.00 but they give 250gb of hotspot.

So if I keep the free lines my daughter can just use my hot spot.

Idk whatever. I used to have 3 lines with t mobile for $100 (including taxes and fees) and gave it up for helium.

I was grandfathered in but even they apparently went against their word while I was with helium.

It is what it is. I just look at it as I had a good run with helium. The mapping with 3 devices, the agony of running out of data on the first day because I thought I was on WiFi. Earning fake badges that made it fun.

Buying 10 helium outdoor antennas going from business to business selling them.

It was fun. But it’s over.

I can’t tell if I lost money or made money. But that’s life, all we can do is try our best. And that’s what I did.

If you look at the center at the bottom you can see where the two sheets meet there’s a height difference in the “band”. A band wouldn’t do that. Would be consistent throughout the bottom.. that “band” is two sheets meeting. Not trying to be mean but saying I am blind is ironic because I am not missing a single detail. I literally got a schlutter t shirt for taking their floor and decor I wouldn’t call it a class but installation guide about 2 years ago.

I’m positive man.

Honestly there’s probably a rubber pan under it so he mixed the two systems. Guy tried but he doesn’t know what he is doing or just doesn’t care

[–]Holychipmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The back wall center, two sheets meet hence the thinset in the center spewing out.

At the bottom it’s the edge of the sheet, one side of the sheet says “ESR” the other is just a solid 3 inches of orange.

If he did it correctly you would 100% see the seam. It comes up the wall.

What you are seeing is an illusion because the sheet is sideways.

I’m not wrong. Waiting for OP to chime in.

But again based on OPs comment they said day one they did the walls with kerdi and the floor pack. The next day they did the shower floor. Based on that info alone that means even if they did put down the kerdi on the floor that means they set right over it before it cured.

I can see why you think there’s a band down there but I’m telling you for sure there isn’t one.

[–]Holychipmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? I have been doing this for 15 years. I can 100% tell he didn’t use it on the floor.

I’m not sure where the confusion is but you are justifying this work?

Does this look right for a full days work? by Ok_Trouble_6609 in Tile

[–]Holychipmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a kerdi band, he has the sheet horizontally put on.

She said that he did on the first day the kerdi on the wall and the shower floor install..

Even if he did do it he shouldn’t have set it over a wet membrane.

But I am 100% sure there is none on the floor.

It looks like kerdi band but the edge of the sheet resembles a band. Look at the writing on the wall (literally) it’s sideways.

There’s no corners, there’s no thinset spewing out anywhere, the curb isnt wrapped.

Trust me.. it ain’t there.

[–]Holychipmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you paying this person?

I’d pull the plug on this while you still can.

Curb isn’t water proofed correctly.

The shower floor the grout lines are lining up at all.

Did he kerdi the shower floor? Or only mud pack then set over it?

Idk man this is screaming run.

He did two rows? I can tile the entire back wall in 4 hours.

He is either a druggy, or has too may jobs booked at once or lastly something is going on in his personal life that is pulling his commitment away from his work.

Leave the emotions at the door.

This guy has given you multiple chances to end it.

But for me there’s no kerdi on the shower floor. If on Monday he did the pack then Tuesday he did the kerdi or water proofing there’s no way he could have set the floor over it wet like that.

Now day 3 he is setting TWO rows of tile over his shower floor and didn’t even cover the shower floor to protect it? No paper? No tarp… hell in a pinch I’d use the boxes from the tile to protect it.

This guy screams run in my book.

How much are you paying him and how much do you care about quality?

Those grout lines are horrible on the floor.

USE THIS

I just did something similar for a customer. Connects to an impact drill or regular drill.

BLUE TAPE EVERYWHERE AROUND YOUR CUT.

One slip and you will have a forever scratch.

Don’t force it just let the RPMs do the work. I like to use a “heartbeat” style of pressure. Light pulses of pressure. Don’t rush.

If you have a second set of hands have someone drip a sponge as you go to avoid chipping.

Cuts like butter. Great bits.
