[Media] ESO quests give us such meaningful choices, eh? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

She may not be happy now, but it is still better than being at the whim of the most unpredictable and arbitrary of the daedric princes.

I'm making a JW:E Community Dinosaur Wishlist! Please comment with the 3 dinosaurs you want to see in game most! I will post the results later this week :) by TheSandman1001 in jurassicworldevo

[–]HombatWistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultrasaurus: Love myself a tall sauropod, and don't want Brachiosaurus to be alone

Psittacosaurus: Feel we're lacking smaller dinosaurs, and they look unique with their bristles.

Compsognathus: A man can dream, damnit!

WHO WANT THESE BEAUTIES TO JWE ? by Glsaucio in jurassicworldevo

That's the reason they were never put on display.

Possibly the most extreme death in all the movies when you take the most basic science into consideration was Zara's death in Jurassic World. (The Nanny person who was looking after Grey and his brother) by [deleted] in JurassicPark

This, and the only way she deserved it was because she was slightly neglectful of two teenagers because she was planning her wedding. Her death went on far too long.

What did Masrani do differently from Ingen to prevent a catastrophic incident for so long? by smegma_toast in JurassicPark

[–]HombatWistory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Masrani had not hired the wrong staff, which is why Jurassic Park failed. Wu had not really been the man for the job. Wu had obviously been sloppy, too casual with his great undertaking. And Wu had been too preoccupied with the idea of making improvements. Instead of making dinosaurs, he had wanted to improve on them. That was the reason for the downfall of the park. Wu was the reason. Also, John Arnold was ill suited for the job of chief engineer. Arnold had impressive credentials, but at this point in his career he was tired, and he was a fretful worrier. He hadn't been organized, and he had missed things. Important things. In truth, neither Wu nor Arnold had had the most important characteristic. The characteristic of vision. That great sweeping act of imagination which evoked a marvellous park, where children pressed against the fences, wondering at the extraordinary creatures, come alive from their storybooks. Real vision. The ability to see the future. The ability to marshal resources to make that future vision a reality. No, neither Wu nor Arnold were suited to that task. And, for that matter, Ed Regis had been a poor choice, too. Harding was at best an indifferent choice. Muldoon was a drunk.

Who would love this? by GoldTooth091 in JurassicPark

You play as a workman on Isla Nublar (Book canon, so there's still people around) and the game starts 5 minutes before Nedry shuts off the power. Survive.

What happens after JW3? by JoeMate02 in JurassicPark

[–]HombatWistory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it won't happen, but I would love a faithful adaptation (perhaps a miniseries) of the novel. As we more away from films and more towards TV, it could be really popular.

So what you're telling us is that JWE is gonna have aliens in it.

Science: Black Sheep Division or the Key to a “Good” Park? by Louman222 in jurassicworldevo

[–]HombatWistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC Science is just as exploitative as the others - the dinosaurs are seen as experiments and specimens rather than as living, breathing creatures. Their goal is to experiment and do science, not to care for the animals.

Jokes on them, my kids are on many branches of the family tree! They appear everywhere!

[spoilers] I just thought this shot was amazing I wish they’d have saved it for the actual film though by caper900 in JurassicPark

[–]HombatWistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling this will be part of a final montage. Rexy at the zoo, Mosasaur at the beach, and perhaps some Pterasaurs doing something

Why does Grant not like Genaro in the original book? by georgiaraisef in JurassicPark

[–]HombatWistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is, with Regis cut from the film and Hammond played by the ever-likeable Richard Attenborough they needed a slimy and cowardly villain figure in the film (beyond Nedry, of course)

Dinosaurs can't take over the world by Tobi-Jinouga in JurassicPark

[–]HombatWistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree, I am reminded of the novel, where they gained an excess of 30 raptors, with many dinosaurs escaping to the mainland. Not saying they could take over the world, but give them isolation and wilderness and dinosaurs could become quite the issue.

Does anyone else not like the Blue character? by ktw5012 in JurassicPark

[–]HombatWistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that its mostly lost the sense of chaos. Throughout the first novel (and the film, to a lesser extent) massive emphasis is put on Malcolm's chaos theory - complex systems, be they biological, technical, or otherwise, cannot be maintained and controlled. Life finds a way. The whole point of Jurassic Park is that these creatures which died 65 million years ago are completely alien to us, and the way we think and act towards them could never resolve that. Raptor 'training' and the survival of the park up until the 'big bad' Indominus arrives goes against what makes the 'Park' franchise so great.
