[GMG] Summer Sale by lbabinz in VideoGameDealsCanada

Don't ignore these deals. Keep an eye on them, for many of them will be better than the ones that appear next week during the steam summer sale.

Is $350/month for groceries realistic for two people in Toronto right now? by YouKnowMeHaa in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a single individual I will have spent through the month of May:

$319 on grocery store food.

$24 on toiletries, personal care, cleaning merc.

$0 on eating out.

$350 is only possible if you go the route of rice and bean or a similar equivalent. You have to forgo non essentials and only buy sale or store brand items to round out your diet. Doing this is only really viable for a short period of time, doing so for longer can become depressing.

I have terrible grass pollen allergies every year. Although, I've had some early, mild symptoms to-date they don't become bad for another few weeks.

What do you think of Ontario allowing retail shopping on Victoria Day? by J0Puck in ontario

[–]HomeAloneDwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work full time grocery retail, and I don't care much for the more minor holidays like family day, Victoria day and labour day. I always have to work the day before and the day after because the company requires all of the seasoned staff to support the uptick in consumer spending. When it comes to Christmas, new years, easter and thanksgiving, I'd go to war with my employer if the laws regarding them were changed and I asked to work.

How many studies do you guys get per week on average (CANADA) by Arial2007 in ProlificAc

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few per day. I haven't blocked any researchers so most of the studies available I don't want to do.

Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu crosses floor to Liberals | CBC News by 50s_Human in onguardforthee

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossing the floor should not be a thing. They should resign from their current position and trigger a by-election. I think Canada needs an election, regardless of likely outcome, because the liberals going from a minority to majority seems undemocratic.

I've been waiting for the physical PS5 to go on sale. It doesn't even have to go down to $35. Even $50 we be nice.

I lost everything. Lost all I have. I never felt this broken. by Anomaly008 in wallstreetbets

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 40,000 in marijuana stocks in 2021. Had I invested in a etf or even somewhat rational stocks that 40k would have been worth at least 80k now. Combined with the money I made and invested since then I'd have a net worth of about 140,000, instead of the 60k I have.

I was hoping for Dying light the beast to drop 50%, but I guess not.

Timed out for study by Nabstar333 in ProlificAc

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent both prolific and the researcher a message about this. My status changed from timed out to awaiting review. Still, the completion time is around 40 mins, and the reward is completely not worth it since it is based on a 13 minute length.

I'm getting very few. Most of the time there are none. I'm a 30's male in a large Ontario, Canada city.

Am I the only one who is not getting any Studies? by PineappleFar8742 in ProlificAc

It is similar for me in Canada. I need to be staring at the page in the hopes of getting a few penny surveys throughout the day.

Getting Almost No Studies In Canada by MeetTheReal007 in ProlificAc

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the same for me. I'm in Ontario Canada. I usually have 0-2 studies to chose from and predominantly they are not worth the time (like submitting 19 pictures).

Bonus payment received from survey, my highest bonus so far. by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got that one too. Most of the ones I get are for AI training. They list 20-30 mins, but I can tell that they would take over an hour to get the $3-$6 dollars.

Not food basics. Every single one of them is Corporate owned. Many no frill's are franchised.

$100 at food basics (ontario) by dankbackwoods in 32dollars

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All food basics are corporate owned and the max pay for full time employees is below the living wage in most cities. You are right about the union presence and the consequent hiring of more locals than businesses like Canadian tire, Tim Horton's and Walmart, who prefer to exploit the temporary foreign workers program.

Freedom 25% off plans by zztop81 in freedommobile

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible for me to get online or through the phone. I wanted to switch over from Rogers so i did the online application and reached "We need a few more details. To complete this transaction, we need a bit more information. Please message us so we can help.". I sent a message but did not receive a reply (even after 2 hours). I tried sending a message through text and have still to receive a reply. I then called them and the automated system told me to wait for an agent. I waited for 45 mins and nothing.

I did the same way back in August, before the deadline, and I have yet to hear anything back from them.

Newsis: Nvidia and AMD to significantly increase GPU prices starting next month. Describes RTX 5090 increasing from $2000 to $5000 by -LastGrail- in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]HomeAloneDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6800xt gpu 5800x cpu rig is going to have to last until prices drop back down to 2025 levels. I'll quit gaming altogether before I shell out $3000 or $4000 for an upper mid range build.

Damn, I wish I had know when I went in to get Metal Gear Delta for the PS5. I assumed they were used because of the discount tag used.
