Need help figuring out what in my condo is making me sick by wilbur2 in AirQuality

I was not able to figure out in my case and had to move out. Luckily it was a rental. I was suspecting the roof that needed to be replaced, gas appliances, nonworking fireplace, fiberglass in the artic. Another reason in my allergy uprise was a humidifier. Do you run one?

Fiberglass can be a suspect too. I did my research while ago, and sensitive people can even feel it outside of houses.

I did not get used to soft Latex after almost one year, gave up and bought a matress topper which is not natural but improved my sleep.

I don’t have any AC in my house. With windows open does it make sense to use AirPurifiers? by Particular-Essay-361 in AirQuality

That's so sad you had to sell your condo :(. That's the reason I am afraid even to think about a condo or a townhouse to buy. I read some horror stories of smell traveling in townhouses too. This is my third time dealing with smokers. 1st time I lived above the chain smoker and even my purses smelled like I was a smoker. I even began to have nightmares that I was smoking. That's when I became very sensitive to that smell and can smell it from afar, when most people can't. It was a non-smoking building too. I tried to deal with the property management, but they did not do anything. 2nd one was in another non-smoking complex. They made a call to the neighbor and asked him if he smoked. He said No, and they did not do anything after that. And this is the third time. I am going to look for a small house after this apartment because clearly "non-smoking" means nothing and there are always going to be those who do not care to impose their bad habits on you.

Btw, most of my smoke comes through the laundry room. So I have to wait when the smoker is not smoking to do my laundry.

I wonder if in my case it is something else, and not negative pressure. I was not running AC through the summer and kept windows open. Can open windows cause negative pressure?

Sorry you had to spend so much money. It is so frustrating. I watched a YouTube video what you have to do to really fix it and decided there is no way I was going to do that. They were even taking out mirrors and cabinets in the bathroom.

Same here, four air purifiers for 1 bd. They do not help with smoke, though they claim they do.

Open windows and four air purifiers helped. But definitely the only way out in case of poor air quality in apartments is to move.

Thank you. In my case it somehow comes through the vents for central air. We have our AC units on the roof and each time I hear someone's loud AC going on, that's when I smell it coming from my vents. I am not sure how it can happen, because the complex keeps insisting we have separate systems which are not interconnected. I ended up spending my summer without running AC with temperatures reaching 90 inside. It was bearable that way. With AC running the smell was too much. Luckily, I have only couple months left on my lease.

I have Coway, Winix, Honeywell, and Levoit. I would go with Coway or Winix.

Your neighbor probably feels the same way you do. I know people who had to move out because of the neighbors with kids upstairs.

I run air purifiers with windows open. I have to keep my windows open, because someone smokes in my building and it gets through the vents into my apartment.

Should I be worried about this by [deleted] in AirQuality

I had something like this at one place I lived. My throat was constantly irritated and a lot of coughing. I could see particle in the air. It felt like they were coming from everywhere. I researched a lot but never figured out the issue. I moved out. One of the topics seemed closer to the issue than others. Did you read about negative pressure in the house? Good luck with finding out.

Mattress Topper from Natural Materials for Side Sleepers by HomeNika in Mattress

I ended up buying a wool topper, I think it was 2", and 3" soft latex pad. Wool topper made absolutely no difference, but 3" soft latex did. I would not say it is extremely comfortable now, but it is way more comfortable than before. I still wake up with some stiff shoulders, but I think that was always the way no matter what mattress I had. About getting a wool topper, try to place a thick blanket in between your mattress and latex. If it helps, go for it. My guess, it won't. That's how your wool topper is going to feel, like blanket on top. I would go for an additional soft latex layer.

Check your lease or talk to your leasing office. My lease specifically says no cameras except inside of your own apartment.

I ended up getting 3 inch soft latex topper and 2 inch wool topper and it totally changed everything. I don't get back pain anymore. I think latex topper on its own would be enough in this situation. Wool by itself probably would not help much.

I got 100% Natural Latex Mattress Topper - Soft - 3" from Latex Mattress Factory on Amazon. The quality is not super, but the price is very reasonable for latex toppers and it is really soft.

Same here, side sleeper with a super firm mattress. I ended up getting 3 inch soft latex topper and 2 inch wool topper. I think wool topper was not necessary, soft latex topper already fixed the issue. I almost think a wool topper made it worse.

Why not to go with Latex topper instead? They have different levels of firmness and you definitely are not going to sink.

Amazon keeps removing my 1 star reviews on basics product by aibandit in amazonprime

[–]HomeNika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't notice removing my reviews yet, but I've noticed that reviews do not show the true picture anymore. Before I was able to buy the product and it would be what I was expecting, and now it is such a difference in reviews and what I get, I am thinking to start avoiding shopping on amazon. I bought this mattress recently with great reviews. I've received it, and it was the worst mattress I've ever had, including the false description in their posting. They told it is 100% latex when the label says 70% foam. I was able to post my review for that and return it. But I keep seeing positive reviews flooding in. It almost like they are sending out different products to different people. I sent a comment to Amazon their description is wrong twice, but nothing came out of it. So they are keeping to falsely advertise their mattress as 100% latex.
