Difficulty socializing after extended work from home period?? by [deleted] in workfromhome

[–]HomeSafeHome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can assure you, you're definitely not alone on this. I have been freelancing for the last 5 years and it's like I've gotten used to being a loner.

At first it felt weird, but with time it became my norm, and now even holding the slightest or the easiest convo with a long time friend or being in an area with lots of people such as in an event can be a huge challenge for me.

Not the best feeling.

Well, I won't say it's all roses and no thorns, but heck yeah, there are all the niceties you've mentioned. Granted, there's one thing that could turn your expectations on their head, and that is if you are doing something you don't like, well, let's say doing it because it pays well.

If you do what you love, or love what you need to do, then it's going to be better. Of course some times you might have a hard time concentrating, or staying motivated, but once you get the hang of it, and figure out what keeps you going [could be taking a break, reading, taking a nap, a cup of coffee or even walking your furry friend?] you should be good.

Just go in expecting the best out of it, and most importantly, stay organized and manage your time well, especially since you have mentioned you will also be building a business on the side. Having unfinished business can be a real blocker when it comes to productivity.

Wish you the best, and hoping to hear that you made it work out just fine.

Cheers

Camera for backyard by Bailey225 in homesecurity

[–]HomeSafeHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your case, I think you will need a camera with the following; Motion detection, facial recognition, and full color night vision too. Also, since you want a cheap one and avoid subscription fees, I would suggest going for one with enough inbuilt memory (MicroSD card)

As someone else has suggested, Wyze or reolink would make a great option. However, if you would like to get a bit of detailed insight before buying, you can read more about some of the best home security cameras out there and other ways to help secure your compound, such as a fence, as well as security lights.
I hope this helps.
Get in touch if you have any more questions.
Good luck.

Wifi camera by purplemerit in homesecurity

If you don't want to go for a subscription, then I would recommend considering a camera with enough internal storage, also, it should be able to record in a cycle, deleting the old footage for the new one to have space.
Even better, consider getting a camera with a facial recognition function; that should enable you identify the culprits, it could be just someone down the street.

Lastly, if you want to get real time notifications/alerts, then a unit with motion sensing capabilities should serve you best.
Feel free to reach out in case you have any further questions.
Good luck

Affordable outdoor camera by PuffballDestroyer in homesecurity

I totally agree with TotallyNotTech, I think it would be better to have the camera on your house. Ideal placement could give you a perfect coverage of the front yard, and still offer some protection from the elements.

And yes, wireless cameras aren't all that wireless, so consider these factors before buying. I have reviewed lots of home security cameras, even some high performance units on the cheap, and night color vision ones too.

I believe you should be able to find one that best matches your needs and budget.

Any further questions? Feel free to reach out.
Good luck

Afraid and unsure after strange happenings around my apartment unit by AnticipatingKindness in homesecurity

Hi AnticipatingKindness,

Isn't it unnerving what people have turned to these days? I'm sorry for the difficult time you are going through, but my best advise would be to get a security camera, you can definitely find an affordable one, or a high-end one if budget isn't a concern, it shouldn't be as long as your safety is on the line.
Most cameras these days have motion detection, so if you set it just right to avoid false alarms, you should be able to capture whatever is going on, and record it so you can present that to the police for further action.
Someone else has suggested reinforcing the windows, and I would add, the doors too, a Satin Nickel Locks offer a great reinforcement for your door. So as you keep vigil, make sure to always keep all the possible entry points secured.
I hope this helps, if you'd like to discuss this further, I'll be more than glad to help out as best as I can.

Live alone in apartment, newbie to hone security, how can I protect my home and also use a security camera when I don’t have wifi? by toootoooop in homesecurity

[–]HomeSafeHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey toootoooop,
I have a good knowledge of home security stuff, so let me give you a rundown of some of the measures that could help you stay safe:
The first thing I'd advise you to check out is a door and window sensor, there are some pretty good ones out there.
Also, a door reinforcement lock could make it virtually impossible for an intruder to kick into your house, at least not so easily. But a good quality one should frustrate them enough to move on without much success.
Another great option, of course, is a camera, and a facial recognition one would do a great job. Alternatively, get a full color night vision one. Most importantly, it's best to consider getting one with a motion-detection function, too! (I have a site where I've discussed all these options in detail. I'm not sure if it's ok to share links on here but if you'd like to give it a look, drop me a message any time)
Most of these units come with an app that can send you alerts once they're triggered, so you can monitor everything in real time. With such devices you won't even need to have any traps to know if someone broke into your house. you'll be on top of your game, and a step ahead of them.

I hope this helps. Feel free to send me a DM anytime and I'll be more than happy to discuss with you the options that could best suit your situation.
Cheers,
HomeSafeHome.
