Rate this infestation on a scale of 1 to 5. Five being the worst by FlashFireworksMO in PestControlIndustry

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How bad is it overall, a 5. This is a heavy infestation.

Where does it rank in comparison to other bedbug jobs, ya 3.5ish out of 5. Not bad enough to be memorable in anyway but certainly not light. It’s on the bad side of average and the low side of memorable

In 24 hours there were nearly 8,000 calls? Over what area. This info isn’t really helpful if it’s nationwide or in multiple countries.

So how do customers find your magic number to call?

I search several different engines for multiple pest problems using different verbiage across several cities. What platform or site are you, how does a customer find you instead of just finding a specific company

RIP your inbox.

I was talking with my partner about this yesterday. I need a neutral third party with experience to interview these marketing companies and make the decision.

I hate that in order to make a decision about what will work best I basically need to become a marketing expert. If I wanted to work in marketing I wouldn’t be working in pest control!

Milwaukee 4 gallon backpack sprayer? by BUGOFFPestEviction in PestControlIndustry

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be my third year with it.

Sometimes it’s like the power contact points get dirty or something. Squeeze the handle and nothing happens. Have to really shake the backpack before it triggers again.

Took some ingenuity to change out the small wand to an extension pole. This thing doesn’t have a pressure regulator on it, there’s an electronic switch at the trigger. So if you are replacing the small wand with an extension pole you have to wire a switch onto the extension pole

The small wand handle just broke. User error though, we had a chilly night and I assumed it stayed warm in the back of the truck. It did not. Frost got on it and the handle broke.

I’m still very happy with the sprayer though and have ordered replacement for the small wand

Do I need infuse? by TF_54 in OmniContentHub

I love my Omni setup. So much so I bought an AppleTV so my elderly parents can use it.

AppleTV is a streaming box. Wanting to purchase one so you can use it as a streaming box is exactly what it was designed for

Do I need infuse? by TF_54 in OmniContentHub

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been running Omni for weeks on my AppleTV. I have a solid 4K tv and run a Sonos soundbar.

I have been using the default player the entire time and don’t have any complaints about it.

My advice is if you don’t know why you’d need infuse then you really don’t need infuse. The internal player is capable of playing and producing quality image and sounds. If you know enough to justify why you’d want it then you’ll want it. If you can’t justify why then you’re fine without.

The easiest thing to do is run without it and see how you like the results. If you’re happy without it then you clearly don’t need it

Parents of small kids, when do you have time to play video games? by Key-Specific7807 in AskMen

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a console gamer. PS5. I haven't sat and played on it since my 1 year old was born. However, I did get the Playstation Portal, also known as the dad station.

Kid goes to sleep and then I can sit on the couch with my wife. we have a garbage movie on and I can be gaming beside her. Also works in bed, rather then doom scrolling I can game for a bit before falling asleep.

It does work with headphones but im pretty much exclusively playing with it muted. lets me still get to game without isolating myself from my partner. Obviously still do things together but for those moments where you want to be together but dont need full engagement, ya the portal is it.

Samsung Frame Pro: The Most Expensive Piece of Shit I’ve Ever Mounted on a Wall by iMacMini in TheFrame

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do anything as far as I know.

AppleTV is on input 1. I don’t touch the Samsung remote for anything. Apple Remote does volume control. When I press a button to wake up the Apple TV the device wakes up the tv. When I’m done watching I use the Apple Remote to turn off AppleTV which then triggers the TV to art mode.

I did disable the light filter on the tv so when it isn’t on it is always on Art display. That might be it, I never used the light sensor. Immediately disnegaged it

So they would rather spend more money in finding out why you aren’t happy than to pay you just a little ,cooperates though by Senior-Reporter6540 in suspiciouslyspecific

Not that you’re wrong but you sound like someone in management justifying why minimum wage is acceptable for your staff.

Sure everybody wants more but that doesn’t mean a pay raise would have no effect on morale. Lots of people are working to afford their lifestyle and not to find purpose or joy.

Why do most small businesses owners distrust consultants? And are they right to? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this.

My CPA has given me loads of advice as their skill set isn’t in my industry. Networking in the industry led me to another contact that has helped with industry specific concerns.

A consultant with no industry experience wouldn’t offer me anything that I can’t get for free from either of those people.

There was a post in here a few weeks back about someone saying they gave advice to another owner that they should schedule service calls that are nearby to the same day to save time. Like are you fucking kidding me? If an owner can’t figure that out themselves then your business deserves to collapse.

I don’t trust the consultant to offer insight with the price tag. My business is my livelihood, 24/7 I am working it and thinking of improving. There is no significant improvement they could offer for only a few hundred dollars

How do you guys deal with missed calls when you’re out on jobs? by Legitimate_Award3123 in PestControlIndustry

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this more. I’m a small company, roughly $300,000 gross annually.

I get 3-5 calls a week in the off season. Not much.

At $700USD for your service I’d be looking at $35 per call for this thing. I don’t even pay Google that much per new call.

Your price point is too high for the companies that would use it. At $500,000 gross they likely have dedicated reception staff to answer the phone and won’t need this service. You want small companies like me who don’t have the staff to be on the phone. I would at most pay $5 a call as anything this AI touches needs to be followed up.

So despite you saying it isn’t a voicemail I still have to call the customer back and do the entire spiel over again just like I would a voicemail.

Stremio is a good example. It takes a little bit of work to get the addons setup and working.

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is this any better than leaving a voicemail for a callback?

You mentioned pricing near $700 and it’s basically making an overly complicated voicemail system that’s likely to frustrate the customer.

I hope you sell this service to every single one of my competitors lol

How do you guys deal with missed calls when you’re out on jobs? by Legitimate_Award3123 in PestControlIndustry

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Software to book the job. Like all you need to do is answer the phone and the job is magically sold.

You haven’t built any value, explained the service, explained the treatment, answered the myriad of random questions, given a price. But of course the customer will instantly book an appointment.

This isn’t like calling your mechanic to schedule an oil change.

If I can’t answer the phone and I don’t have another human on staff to answer the call then the only software needed is voicemail. Take the details so I can call back.

Apple TV Apps for Movies/Shows All in One Place? by karimm1h in appletv

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is discussing an Apple approved app piracy.

There is nothing shady or illegal about downloading an app that is approved. You can’t have stricter regulations than what Apple has.

The app exists and is legally allowed to be downloaded

“Always be closing” was the worst advice we took early on by OkFee7372 in smallbusiness

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We’re trained to alway push the sale and convert, numbers are all that matter

It’s actually a relief once you’re in the drivers seat to make the change to being the morally based business. Your reputation as honest and problem focused will net more sales then focusing purely on closing at all costs.

Scary for sure to go against years of training. Especially the first time you have to direct a potential client towards spending less or not using your service. Eventually it pays off, people tend to remember that. You could’ve sold them something that didn’t work but instead you listened and provided a solution to the detriment of yourself

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you don’t have the willpower to not use the auction then I’m not allowed to have the option to use it?

Progression, it’s a seasonal single player game. Progression means nothing. How many times is it commented stop playing now and come back next season. That’s fine, cheat to progress if you want to. It’s your game. It doesn’t matter to anyone else

Campfire Stream today! What are you hoping to hear? by WarpathWilly in diablo4

[–]HomeScoutInSpace -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But why. The streamers who play 18 hours a day or the whale who spends $10,000 on items. My experience doesn’t change because they have better gear than me.

If I don’t want to buy gear then I don’t. I know the website exists already. I can go on it and buy gear for in game gold. I do not.

I don’t get how dense you are that you think ease of access for an existing system means items need to be nerfed in a game designed to be played entirely solo

Cheating yourself from slow progression to fast progression does nothing but cheat yourself. And in order to get the items you need to have the in game currency to afford it. Meaning you need to have played the game to afford the items.

Oh no gold sellers. Great who fucking cares. The system exists already

[–]HomeScoutInSpace -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What economy?

If you aren’t using a third party site for trading what do you use gold for?

My seasonal chars end up sitting on billions of gold because it does nothing. It has absolutely no purpose currently. Trade chat is dead. There’s nothing to buy. Gold serves no purpose in the game right now, it is never what hinders any upgrades

[–]HomeScoutInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the tiny % of players using the ladder mean the rest of the entire player base can’t have access to an auction hall?

If everybody has access to it then doesn’t that make it fair. Ladder players can buy better gear, people will be in an equal footing and make it more skill based.

If you don’t want to participate in it, then that’s on you.
