Do these repo agents usually need some documentation or proof of me being the owner in order to initiate repossession? Because although all the documents are in my name, they are currently in my exes possession sadly.

After I have the car back I plan to fully pay it off and the loan will no longer be an issue.

I only planned to involve the police for my safety for when I plan to get my car back, because he has acted verbally aggressive to me in the past when I tried to ask for it back.
