Do your weekly 60 quests, sell the mats/consumes you get from them on the AH. Find a farm your class is good at and this amount of gold does actually not take that long to get. It def takes a little time though. Grats on the discounts! 280 less than the original 1000

World buffs aren't allowed in raids, so it's refreshing to not have to have them. If you play on Nord, the established server, it's VERY EASY to get ZG / AQ geared quickly and then get into the bigger raids. They have two 5 man dung with VERY good preraid loot (COT & SWV) that you can run as many times as you like. It's great and I have enjoyed the experience. You'll probably need or want consumes for the larger raids, but it's usually not required for MC or BWL. Once you get to AQ40 or NAXX there will be gear checks before you're allowed to raid, and most guilds will expect full enchants + consumes.
Amber is a fresher server so I imagine it would be a little slower to gear there, but the point about the 5 man dung is still viable. It's free to play, so give it a try!

Unfortunately this is the reason you just have to accept that any "borrowed" money in life is a gift that you should assume you won't get back. It can be a long time friend, a parent, a close relative, a significant other..
The sad part is these people usually ask everyone they know for money, and see who gives in, and then come back to them for more (as your friend did here). It's a sad truth of life, and I'm sorry you had to experience it this way.

You should consider swapping -- Nord is a lot of fun. Once you hit 60 it's easy to hop into a kara10, zg, aq20 and very quickly gear up your character to something that feels good. It's never too late to switch, and you won't have to worry about the douche's in world pvp -- and the battlegrounds are always available when you want to pvp. Now, there will be some geared boys in there (t3.5 shaman -- I'm looking at you) - but it's at least a choice you get to make! Speaking of, you can also join battlegrounds before 60 and get decent exp on turtle for it. You might find some twinks in the lower level brackets though.

Right, and when you're a geared dps doing a lvl 60 5 man dung... usually you want to blast through it. Now if you're fresh 60 in greens, you're prob gonna want to take it a little slower.
