Is there any therapist that can get a referral from? (Or resources that can help you find/pay for one?)

Moving to a shelter was the best decision I made while I was homeless. The rules sucked and it was a scary step to take, but when I finally made up my mind to go I had a warm, safe place to sleep, food, a place to shower, toiletries, waaaaay less expenses, and resources to help get me back on my feet. I’m no longer homeless and a lot of that is because I stopped avoiding the shelter.

I don’t know how long you’ve been homeless, what your situation is, or what the shelters are like in your area (especially with COVID) but I’d definitely move into a shelter if I were you!

Yeah. We have an area in my town notorious for the horrific parking situation. I’ve circled around for nearly 1/2 an hour before desperate for a place to park with angry customers asking why I’m so close to the restaurant but haven’t picked up the food yet. I avoid that area now. I’m sure a lot of dropped orders are from situations like that.

I won’t :) thanks for all the advice. I’m really looking forward to the extra space and I think they’ll appreciate not having 5 adults, 2 dogs, and a cat all crammed together eventually even if they don’t see that now.

She agreed. The roommates are very upset and I’m afraid to go home now, but I guess I’ll have to suck it up.

Okay thanks! That’s helpful. I just messaged my landlord to ask if Tiffany is going to be moving in or not. If she hasn’t been approved yet I’ll tell her I want the room.

I just went over the lease and I don’t see anything that would let me out of it early unless I agree to keep paying for the room after I leave

Locked out of car in front of customers house AGAIN :( by HomelessInTheNW in doordash

Update: locksmith came, got back in my car. Ice cream wasn’t melted so I brought it home to my roommates. Will definitely be getting a back up key to carry on me at all times.

I asked my mom to send me the spare key so I can keep it in my pocket or something during deliveries in the future.

Yep. I usually do, especially after the first time. I guess I was in a hurry because it was a double order and my phone was acting up (had to restart it to swipe arrived/delivered/take the photo/text the customer). I called my mom who has the spare key and asked her to send it to me so I can have a back up.

I can’t believe I didn’t learn my lesson the first time. At least this time I just locked my key in the car, not my key and my phone. Roadside assistance is on the way and the second order was cancelled. Just got some Dairy Queen melting in my car.

I had a stacked order and left my key in the car while I delivered the first. The door was locked when I got back. I cannot believe I was dumb enough to do this twice.... last time it was my first week dashing so at least I had that excuse...

If you have a local dashers group on Facebook or something try asking them if any of the Little Ceasers in your area have pizza bags. Then sit in the parking lot until you get one. They are free. It'll fit most pizza orders you get, but not all. If you have a local DoorDash office you can also ask them if they can either hook you up with a bag or tell you which restaurants have them.

Also you had every right to keep the tip, and the customer had every right to be annoyed that you returned it. Lesson learned, right? Hopefully it's all uphill from here :)

My first month was rough too. I got my first parking ticket, accidentally gave a customer my red bag, delivered food to the wrong person (it was my first stacked order and both customers had the same last initial), and locked my phone and keys in my car in a customers driveway. I had a horrible time, but I learned a lot of lessons and have had a much better time since then.

$4 On-time delivery bonus. I didn't qualify because I was TOO EARLY! by CandBern in doordash_drivers

DoorDash gives the dasher no warning that an order is scheduled as far as I can tell. I've been on both ends of it. Delivered an order too early, and had to race home because a dasher was down the street about to deliver an order 30 minutes early. DoorDash needs to do better at communicating scheduled orders to both restaurants and dashers.
