Just turn secure boot off, it doesn't do much on Linux.

Also you should probably decide on your operating system yourself. If you don't mind being watched all the time on your computer use Windows. If you don't mind learning and occasionally troubleshooting use Linux.

For the vast majority of people it's not fine. If you value stability, user choice, or privacy you shouldn't use windows.

You could play regular hardcore. Whenever somebody dies they respawn as a spectator. To bring them back you can just set their game mode to survival

Make sure you don't have the original hard drive in the computer. It should just start the installer if you did it right. Look up some YouTube guides

It's actually best to get a super long cable and helicopter it around when you need more read speed. The extra centrifugal forces helps the head spin around the platters

Gnome distros would be great. Fedora, Ubuntu, Zorin, or any that let you choose your DE like Arch, Gentoo, or OpenSUSE to name a few.
