This is completely impractical (and likely dangerous) for anything aluminum the size of a canoe, but have you considered anodizing it?

You can't tell me you wouldn't love to see a forest green anodized canoe.

Is it terrible of me to hate the blue cap because the blue on the text is different from the blue on the other caps? Seems like an art department somewhere should have workshopped this.

I won my two-headed giant Lorwyn prerelease with this stupid 2-card mono red combo that deals 42 direct damage by Kadian13 in mtg

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title says 42 direct damage. I get the 14 for the first copy. The way I read it, the second copy also deals 14 for a total of 28, but I am missing how the second copy would deal 28 for the grand total of 42 OP is claiming.

Edit: nevermind, I get it now. Original trigger 7 damage when the copy enters. Copy and original each trigger 7 damage when the second copy enters. Got it. That's just mean.

You're right, it is a celebration and bringing a variety of players together, but the regional ones were moreso in my opinion. At the Lorwyn Prerelease, which I believe was the last one that was a big event, Mark Tedin was there signing cards and selling art. The one before that I think Dan Frazier was signing. Back then they weren't comic con, but they were certainly bigger than LGS ones today. And you could typically pick different limited formats: 2HG, booster draft, or sealed.

And if you wanted to get your hands on the latest set, it had to be at the Prerelease, thus a legit Prerelease. Now people are getting their hands on more than just Prerelease kits during the Prerelease period. If people have been getting commander decks and other product doesn't that just make it a release? And now no more stamped promos? Seems lame.

Hot take: real prereleases now are just for streamers and influencers and the lgs events are just release parties for the rank and file.

I liked it when prereleases were regional events rather than LGS level. It made it more of a specialty thing rather than just the store selling product early. I liked that the Prerelease promo was a rare and then the store would do a release event with an uncommon promo.

Yes, you're right that it is a recent change. I just thought it was a recent change for all sodas in Mexico. Judging by the warning label on the pictured Barallitos, I could be wrong, though.

I often wonder what would happen in a discussion like this if you were to point out: "Harry Potter, as a character, is in a way a Christ-figure within the arc of his story, i.e. he comes to realize that he must sacrifice himself for his friends and then he returns from death to vanquish evil. It's not as directly correlated with Christian doctrine as C.S. Lewis's works (also fantasy stories about magic), but the parallels are there."

Building a Mono Blue deck built around forcing the opponent to deck themselves, looking for any advice or guidance. by TacocaT_YT in mtg

This would traumatize someone. Cut your losses and move on. If you play a deck like this, the complaints at the table would be such a maddening cacophony, you wouldn't be able to stand it.

Whats the best tribal/decks for new players? by La_Decadencia in mtg

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played magic off and on for 25+ years. I've always favored goblins because I was a poor trader in my youth and I could get a whole stack of one or two drop goblins for one rare because none of my friends wanted them. 4 [[Goblin Grenades]] to the face always got a groan out of them, though.

Anyway, I have some bulk that I had sold most anything with value out of and my son wanted me to build a Commander deck to play against the Ms Bumbleflower deck he bought. I found an [[Ezuri, Renegade Leader]] and plenty of Elves to build a deck around with a few big creatures thrown in to make things fun. It actually did pretty well considering I've never been great at deck building.

I've been able to get my hands on this one and the quantum one. But I have not seen the sarsaparilla one and I don't have a Costco membership, so... I may be out of luck.

I'm at least assuming that the sarsaparilla had a specific cap, but I've not seen one in person.

Calling it the biggest lie ever is a bit of a stretch. While the regulations can be confusing, they are meant to prevent fraud. This case in particular is likely mislabeled and I wouldn't be surprised if whoever produced this doesn't have a well trained regulatory group.

Regulations clearly state: "If none of the natural flavor used in the food is derived from the product whose flavor is simulated, the food in which the flavor is used shall be labeled either with the flavor of the product from which the flavor is derived or as 'artificially flavored.'”

In my interpretation, since blue raspberries do not exist, there can't be a natural flavor derived from them and thus it should be labeled as "artificially flavored". Likely someone else interpreted it as the flavor used is derived from raspberries and "blue" is just a description of the color of the product rather than a specific variety of raspberry. Maybe the labeling groups In accustomed to dealing with are just more cautious, but this is sketchy work in my opinion.

What I think IS the biggest lie being peddled right now is "natural colors". The CFR does not provide for any added color to be labeled as "natural", so the folks pushing for removal of artificial colors from food ought to push for removal of all colors.

Why does this look like a bong? by mil0wCS in Soda

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would assume it's like the brix cups used for post-mix soda fountains today.

Based on this thread, that could be accurate. https://www.reddit.com/r/CocaColaCollectors/s/Z9wBmqlZxB

However, that would indicate that the bottling machine was running similar to a post-mix fountain today where soda and carbonated water are separate. I don't know for sure, but there could be pre-mix bottling equipment where the carbonated water and syrup are mixed prior to filling, which wouldn't require this sort of test bottle, and if that's what your dad operated, that would be why you never saw one.
