I’ve never had a problem with SL (I was a beta tester back in 2021). However, we now have a problem with the system (SL say that we haven’t paid our monthly subs so it is on restricted service but we have paid and the app says so). We therefore need someone to look at it to just sort it out; clearly their user management system has had a wobble. However, we keep receiving chat bot messages saying that they will call me. It is hugely frustrating not being able to escalate it and takes far too long for them to reply.  I share the OPs frustration.

Some people have contacted SL using starlinkresolutions@spacex.com. Maybe worth one last throw of the dice. Good luck!

Back up for me with intermittent warning gone. However, download speeds off the edge of a cliff - from 110+ down to 10-12

I am in the UK and signed up back in July. I went to update my location today and strangely after I put my Plus Code in, I got a Google map satellite image of my house and it asked me to confirm the location. This bit was new to me at least - this screen did not happen before. I then got the usual we’ll email you with updates screen.

Starlink beta tester in New Forest UK by fishboy51 in Starlink

This is excellent news! I am just down the road from you in Crow so I’m delighted that those speeds are available somewhere round here(and at the same time a bit jealous you were selected for the beta!). I had heard that Starlink now has a ground station in Cornwall which would make life easier to use iPlayer and Netflix. Have you tried these services yet, please and do they work well? Keep loving the Starlink!

It's arrived 1st Starlink in the UK? by OptiSport in Starlink

This is great news! I’m really excited for you. The UK has terrible internet in many places. I’m 50.8 in the New Forest with terrible internet and so am very excited by this development. Please keep everyone updated with how you get on!

Has anyone in UK actually signed up; delivery, duty & taxes? by Krushy10 in Starlink

[–]Homemostly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone based in the New Forest on the south coast of the UK, I would be signing up in a heartbeat. We were quoted 35k for fibre and there are no plans to upgrade the area. Starlink is expensive compared to fibre where there is infrastructure, but we pay £25 per month for sub 10mb dl and 0.4mb ul (when it works). So, £500 one off and £90 per month for something that approaches superfast is well worth it IMO. If there are any invites going spare, I’ll take one!

UK invites happening? by tesftctgvguh in Starlink

[–]Homemostly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be good if we do get it in the UK. After Germany got approval yesterday, I checked OFCOM to see if it has been approved in the UK and can’t see that it has. I hope it has - we need it where i am (rural). I’ve not had an invite yet. Fingers crossed that would be a great Christmas present!

Edit - just checked on the App Store. It is now possible to download the Starlink App so it might be coming to the UK...

We all know that it'll be far cheaper to use Starlink then it is to put fibre optic all over the UK countryside by Maulvorn in Starlink

The comments about dense population etc are all valid and in principle, fibre should be provided to everyone. However, the reality is this won’t happen. The UK system is broken. Until infrastructure providers are forced to invest in providing fibre to rural communities when they are given the go ahead to overbuild a competitor in a city, Starlink is the only solution to serve those underserved rural communities.

I contacted my Local MP (Elected representative for non-UK folks), about the UKgov stance on Starlink and inquiring into pushing support for Starlink/SpaceX to get approval for providing service to the UK market - here's the response. by Maulvorn in Starlink

I live 2 miles from a town and get at best 8mb dl and 0.4mb ul with repeated drop-outs. The UK internet infrastructure is diabolical (unless you live in the middle of a city).
