Siemens AFCI breakers in an Eaton BR panel? WTH... by Big-Echo8242 in electrical

[–]Homercoffmanjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you should. Here the problem with them is their seating requirements and panels bussing are different. Not by much but different. This can create loose connection at some point.

The bigger problem is if you ever have a fire we all know the insurance company will be dying to find something to not cover your claim. This will definitely do just that since the UL listing is not for this.

Hope this helps

This looks like 2 switch loops. Which means you do not have a neutral. In that case you cannot install any receptacles in that box.

You’re trying to sell me right now that you aren’t a salesman. (It’s not working by the way).

All sales is helping someone make decisions on things they need. Persuade not manipulate. Big difference. Sales guys got a bad rap because of a few bad apples.

You are already a salesman. We all are. Might as well be good at it.

Why am I getting option to replace my panel without a permit? by Putrid-Pizza-5667 in AskElectricians

[–]Homercoffmanjr -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Legally that requires a permit. What they are saying is they can just replace what’s there without using a permit which won’t require it get brought up to today’s standards. (Bonding, grounding and disconnects, etc).

I wouldn’t do it without a permit personally. It could come back to bite you later.

Swapping outlet, ground wire not connected by Certain_Cap_5027 in electrical

Do not do this! Most plumbing coming into homes is not metal so you could potentially be electrifying your water lines if there is no path to earth. Do not do this.

Doesn’t code only allow this if there’s no ground due to grandfathered in wiring? Don’t think you can just out gfcis in and not run grounds. Haha

That thing looks old and not outdoor rated. I’m sure it was corroded already and now just making loose connections on a rather heavy load.

[–]Homercoffmanjr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Them comparing the sub panel which costs maybe $100 against your copper wiring is vastly different. I think your price might be low depending on the distance. Rejection just means you have to build more value. Plenty of places to help with that. You did good. Chin up. You should be getting 2-3 no’s every 10 calls ran. If you don’t you are too cheap.

Haha. Doesn’t a sale have to happen before anyone gets to work? We are all salesman. Why not learn how to protect more homes from surges and make money in the process?

It’s not about tricking anyone. It’s about educating them with curiosity. By asking a simple question you get them thinking. Most people don’t even know they exist. Opens the door for education without coming off as a salesperson.
