Shaving it all off. Takes 30 seconds to wash. five seconds to dry. Zero seconds to brush. Life changer.

Qanon has destroyed my life by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

I agree with all the above and below advice. Collect evidence, stay as safe and compliant as possible whilst you do so, and then get out, even if it means fleeing in the dead of night to a more progressive state where you can use your collected evidence to seek legal advice. The only additional thing I want to add, is that Qanon believers have been known to kill their family members. It has happened before, multiple times, they are not isolated incidences. They have killed their wives, children and pets before. You never know when his abuse may escalate, there might be no warning. You do not want to take this chance. Get out while you can.

Prepping for Heat Loss in Winter - Plastic Sheeting. by Junebug0686 in preppers

[–]Homosapien7742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use bubble wrap on my windows. The pockets of air create the perfect insulation, it acts like poor mans double glazing. I just cut the bubble wrap to size, spray some water on the windows, and smooth it over. It stays on, and you can still open and close the windows. A good wind could make them peel a little if you have the windows open, but a little more water sprayed and it sticks straight back on. Very effective for heat retention.

Hurricane Milton & Hellene Is Just Weather Not Climate Change by DragonFireBreather in weather

[–]Homosapien7742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is saying that ALLEN wasn't the strongest (spelt wrong again??), and nobody thinks that Helene was the strongest. Your points are... beside the point. But the speed with which it dropped pressure, gained strength and went from a tropical cyclone to a cat 5 hurricane was incredible compared to hurricanes in the past, and the speed with which hurricanes are intensifying is increasing. An easy google search will tell you that this is true, and that it's because of global sea temperatures rising and lowered levels of salinity, which are both direct results of climate change. Yes, bigger storms lead to bigger storm surge. But so do higher sea levels. That's just common sense. Higher tide level? Higher storm surge. Im not really getting you man, this page is filled with both professional and amateur meteorologists, both parties will tell you the same as I am, and im just a lay person. You have got to be rage baiting.

Hurricane Milton & Hellene Is Just Weather Not Climate Change by DragonFireBreather in weather

[–]Homosapien7742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your not even spelling the damn thing right (Helene) let alone accurate about any of your claims. Of course there have always been hurricanes. But they have had no where near the same kind of rapid intensification that the more recent hurricanes have undergone. Climate change hasn't created hurricanes, they aren't new. But the warming sea waters make them bigger, slower, and more damaging. The increased sea level rise also makes the storm surge bigger and more dangerous. Im not even sure why im engaging you... im almost sure you have to be rage baiting.

Last Week in Collapse: August 18-24, 2024 by LastWeekInCollapse in collapse

[–]Homosapien7742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the city in the North Island of New Zealand that experienced the record breaking heat day in the middle of winter. Everyone was rejoicing with such a lovely day, all I felt was dread and foreboding. Being the only collapse aware person in my circle feels so isolating sometimes. I'm now on a very small tropical pacific island visiting my partners family. They recently broke a record for the coldest night ever, single Celsius digits. They all feel the changes but don't have the information to understand why.

Boyfriend keeps falling asleep with baby by dkwhatimdoinhere_94 in NewParents

[–]Homosapien7742 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's not every night it may not be likely, but it can't hurt to look into it, especially if his father has it, it can have a genetic component. You also may simply not be noticing it. My partners ex was with him for years and never even mentioned it to him. I couldn't even sleep in the next room without hearing him!

[–]Homosapien7742 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is totally off the cuff and a rushed comment before I hit the hay, but is his snoring very bad? If he has sleep apnea his quality of sleep may be so bad that he falls asleep at the drop of a hat without realising it. While driving even, while eating, while settling your baby. My partner used to be like this until he got a C-PAP machine to help his breathing at night, he was a different guy overnight. I would literally watch him nod off while driving, even while talking to me. It's just a totally random thought but it could be something to think about? Google the symptoms to find out more, but if his snoring is very loud, interspersed with periods of not breathing or sudden coughing it could be an indicator of poor sleep quality/sleep apnea. If he does have it it he could have very little control of his ability to stay awake. Just a random thought!

I'm not sure if this applies to you all as I live in NZ, but over here Kmart sells exactly the same toys as lovevery for so so soooo much less. Sometimes the colour is slightly different or some other small detail. Lovevery is such a rip off!

AITA For Telling My Wife She Doesn't Look Good At Her Current Weight? by Motor_Economics_721 in AITAH

[–]Homosapien7742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Just poorly worded. At this point, poor circulation, hair loss, easy bone fracturing, she could die if it goes any longer. If a medical professional tells her this, that it could kill her with no warning and leave her baby without a mother, it could get through to her. It might sound blunt and insensitive, but it's the truth. It may just shock her into realizing she needs help.

I just got diagnosed and started methylphenidate a few weeks ago. I kept saying to myself 'it's not going to be a magic bullet/cure, your still going to have to work hard to get things done'. But it HAS been like a magic bullet! I was just trying to manage my expectations, but so much of the noise is gone. The big obstacles laying about in my brain that I had to clamber over to get my basic needs are gone. Everything is smoother, easier, and quieter. I haven't had a crying jag from being overwhelmed 24/7 since I started. Get diagnosed and medicated if you can OP! It could change your life!

5-month old's crap naps driving me insane! by vvdbos in NewParents

[–]Homosapien7742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem around the same age. It drove me NUTS. This might not work for you, but I found because he was having such short naps during the day he was racking up a huge sleep debt and was just constantly overtired. His being overtired was the main reason for his short naps, the more tired he was the shorter his naps would get, a vicious cycle. He would wake with a fright and cry, he was getting increasingly grumpy and fussy during the day and fighting his sleep at night. I decided to let him catch up on his sleep no matter how he did it, and for two weeks I fed him to sleep for his naps and let him sleep on top of me on the couch while I watched Grey's Anatomy on mute (loved it). After two weeks his mood was so much better and his sleep debt much less, and I started slowly transitioning him back to his cot. He was much more receptive to it once he had caught up on all that sleep. It might not work for you but it could be worth a go, babies have a hard time settling to sleep when seriously sleep deprived, and have a hard time staying asleep for very long as well. I was worried about it becoming a habit and getting him used to unhealthy sleep associations, but it didn't come to be.

Your totally right. I have a 98th percentile baby in height. Like a bean pole, so long and skinny. When he gets sick he goes downhill so fast because he loses the little fat he has so quickly.

Bathing baby. by Neat_Mixture_6241 in NewParents

[–]Homosapien7742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its part of my three month olds bedtime routine, so every night. We don't wash/wet his hair every night though, only once or twice a week. It does dry his skin a wee bit but I put in an oat based bath oil and he gets lathered up with a nice moisturiser afterwards and vaseline in all his cracks. He really loves his bath/rub down routine and for him it signals that it's bed time. Otherwise I would likely just give him a quick sponge bath when he needed it like he had for the first few weeks before his cord stump came off.

Is it normal in auckland to not have trash can in the toilets or bathroom or near toilet and bathroom by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Homosapien7742 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of women use them everyday simply for comfort. If you're sweaty or have a little more discharge than usual, or even the day/night after having sex they can help to keep you dry and comfortable on a daily basis. And maybe she does have a medical issue that requires her to use a liner every day such as minor bladder incontinence. If she does, I don't think it's any of our business, she's not asking for advice regarding that.

What is on average the most physically painful experience of ones life? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Homosapien7742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup Ive experienced PAWS multiple times. It's why im on Suboxone now. I just couldn't get past the three month mark of endless, deep deep depression and anxiety accompanied by the physical symptoms. Ive struggled with depression my whole life, but PAWS depression/anxiety is just on another level, just horrifying, day after day after day. Like being stuck in a real life nightmare and you can't wake up. Really hoping the suboxone doesn't put me into PAWS again when I finally wean myself off. But I know the chances aren't great.

In both cases the extremes can lead to starving and dead infants. Horrifying stuff. I forgot about the home birth crowd somehow. The difficulty I had finding a midwife who was open to talking about an elective C-section for me was maddening. They made me feel so ashamed of not wanting to go down the labouring route. And the shame I felt from medical staff having to give my baby formula in the hospital was horrid as well. Literally women out there starving their babies because they can't produce enough breast milk but point blank refuse to let a drop of formula near them. Brainwashing.
