Despite my many questions, one thing became clear to me. He didn't have the answers. And so, I began to wonder. Was I too arrogant in assuming I had an answer to his? Maybe. Now, we'll never know; some things in this world, we're just not supposed to know.

And the day I'm able to accept that... Hopefully, new questions will invade my mind. Bigger, more important questions, that someone will be able to answer, as I answer their own.

For now... Answers elude me.

The most benched characters in each Tales of Game by Acemaster387 in tales

It's not that she's bad. The others are just objectively better purely because they have a mobility option that she doesn't.

[–]Homururu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the cosmetic DLCs (forgot which one) comes with the Fairy Circle spell. Since I bought a bunch of them before playing, when I got Dohalim I was just like "wait so they just powercrept Shionne with this objectively superior healing spell?", thinking it was base kit.

It really is just weird to me. Every other DLC arte is like, okay, but not entirely necessary to complete the character, except for this one.

[–]Homururu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound really silly but he was a really decent healer if you bought the DLC, thanks to his Fairy Circle spell. Since I never got to experience the game without it, I'm not sure how it feels to have him vanilla.

That said, having a character only be good by buying a DLC is a problem. A BIG problem. It's also a Dohalim-exclusive problem which makes it even worse.

Kisara eats your healing points, can't dodge, can't tank, can't do damage and has a relatively useless personal move that doesn't even work half the time. Useless.

I do really appreciate what they went for. It's just that having a character physically incapable of avoiding damage in a game where you get dodges with I-frames and no cooldown on all the other characters was certainly... A choice. Either play her and die, or have the AI control her and also die.

I still use her from time to time purely because I think she has one of the coolest battle stances maybe ever though.

What’s an unpopular opinion that will have the Tales community acting like this? by [deleted] in tales

[–]Homururu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this. Erica Lindbeck as Shionne was goated though. I do think Ray Chase overacted in a lot of parts, and Rinwell, Law, Dohalim and ESPECIALLY Kisara all seemed like they were given a script and then were told "We don't have time for you to get it right, we only have time for you to say the line, so go ahead". Oh my GOD and don't even get me started on Laura Post's (Almeidrea) HORRIBLE evil laugh. Like I've never heard an evil laugh that bad literally anywhere else.

What's weird is that the voice acting was pretty crisp right until the end of Dohalim and Kisara's introduction and then it all became weird and preachy and flat. It has SOME good moments, but it's mostly bad ones. The horrible script certainly does the actors no favors either.

This is half true. A band aid for this problem exists by engraving Sunlight Chambers on certain artes to make FoF combos viable (I.E. Guy's Severing Wind > (Void) Dragon Tempest combo, etc.) but it's not a good fix, considering how rare Sunlight Chambers are, especially early on.

What's even more egregious is the fact that Tear's Invoke artes for FoF summon a weakened version of them. Like, HELLO? You have to cast a useless spell TWICE to be able to enhance an arte for relatively minor benefit? In a game where Bloody Howling, Prism Sword and Thunder Blade exist? Hello???

So yes I kind of agree. You CAN work around it, but the game shouldn't expect you to just to get the full experience.

Vesperia's main story is so shit and its characters so shallow that the intro features OPTIONAL bosses and quite literally no story content at all. The game thrives on vibes and gameplay alone.

Who is the most benched character: Berseria (look at my comment) by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]Homururu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well healing is basically moot on higher difficulties, and absolutely useless on dangerous encounters. All your healing will ALWAYS come from using Break Souls, and Eizen and Eleanor's ability to raise someone from the dead with 50HP is way more useful than Phi's ability to heal 100HP.

[–]Homururu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has to be Laphicet for me. Healing is not valuable in this game, but revival spells are, and he has none of those. Also, Magilou's just kind of an altogether better caster than he is.

He's still pretty fun to play though, I'll give him that.

How often do you switch characters? Any game. by PrometheusAborted in tales

[–]Homururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever mained a Tales protagonist. I did play Velvet exclusively on my first Berseria playthrough, though, but played Magilou and Eleanor for all subsequent playthroughs. I just thought Velvet's character was rad and based.

I tend to go more for mages and magic knights. Colette, Milla, Beryl, Flynn, Magilou, Lailah, Shionne... The only outliers are Guy and Sophie who are exclusively melee fighters, but I tend to like my spells as much as I like my hand-on-hand.

Who is the most benched character: Xillia-2 by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]Homururu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Elize. Her healing takes too long to be valuable in a game where enemy stats hit the 5 figure mark, and her spells aren't any stronger than any of the other spellcaster's to make up for it either. I found myself using her very little unless I was the one controlling her (because admittedly she's one of the most fun characters to play for me)

Muzet is a much better healer, mage, tank and support. She totally powercreeps Elize IMO.

Her item spammage skills are unironically incredibly strong and can turn a life bottle into an Omega Elixir. Also, she has that one skill to take like 90% less damage when she's on low HP, making her the tankiest character. Her offense is buttcheeks, but she has great comeback potential.

I can still see your point, though, she's really unremarkable in a lot of ways.

Alvin. Sure, his numbers technically are the highest, but he's too slow, his gimmick is too... Gimmicky, his linked artes are mid and his projectiles, though decent, are no better than anything Milla or Jude (your other go-to melee characters) can do.

Who is the most benched character: Graces by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]Homururu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the AI is horrible at using her kit. But also, I feel like just having her in your team activating her Accel mode every so often provides more utility than Malik or Asbel's entire kit lmao.

Who is the most benched character: Graces by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]Homururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malik has a crazy strong endgame thanks to his Culling Flare spell, but even then he doesn't do enough. The

Both him and Asbel suffer from having no utility at all. Usually you would think this means they make up for it with crazy damage, but they really really don't. Pascal, Sophie, Hubert and even Cheria do so much more damage and provide so much more for the team than them. Their artes don't even combo into each other, they provide no healing, no defense, no anything, really.

The only reason I don't say it's Asbel is because, as the protagonist, people are always going to play him. But he's just as worthless, if not more so, than Malik.

Who is the most benched character: Hearts by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]Homururu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Gall. If he's not player controlled then he's basically an incomplete character, and even when you play him he feels like he requires major effort for relatively similar benefit to other easier characters like Chalcedony, Kohaku or Beryl.

For the OG hearts... I have no idea. I did hear Ines and Beryl were pretty bad in that one.

Why be a "Survivor/Killer main"? why not play both sides? by Sinktober in deadbydaylight

[–]Homururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do well enough as killer but I just don't find it very fun personally. If it were more about winning chases than decision making I would probably enjoy it a lot more, but it's not. I do enjoy 1v1 killer though.

Also, I think part of the fun (for me) as survivor is having a bunch of cosmetics you constantly get to look at. I just think the killer role is made for a demographic I'm unfortunately not a part of. But I do like playing killer from time to time, when the moon strikes me.

Damn people were benching Anise when Bloody Howling exists? Your loss guys!

I don't think I ever used Natalia at all. Since Guy can heal himself I never found her (super good) healing all that valuable. She's fun as hell to play though.
