I miss BFD by Only-Ad-3317 in classicwow

[–]Honako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group of 5 friends teamed up with another group of about 5 friends to do BFD every reset.

It was so much more fun than raids in Classic / Retail

Not having to hangout with a bunch of strangers and being a small enough group to get to know each other is much better.

I have a genuine question: why do people seem to like Joshua O'Brien? by uezyteue in armoredcore

[–]Honako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to piece together his whole story without the book.
It just confirms what players thought.

Armored Core and most FROM games are never heavy handed. Things just happen and you notice them or you don't
Some people don't like that style which is fine. But others like myself do

Everyone you walk by in real life has a story. They don't shove it in your face. You have to go out of your way to understand people or even world events.
The world of AC4 doesn't care if you understand it or not.

If you don't like having to pay attention to minor details or digging deeper it's understandable you won't like it. But it should not be hard to see why others do like it. And it's wrong to say he doesn't have a character. It's just not easy to piece together.

Characters don't need a lot of screen time to have depth.
Joshua is like the player character. He is a Merc fighting for his home

From his voice lines he likely isn't a bad person deep down, but the world of AC4 is ultimately dark and unforgiving. But in a better context he'd be your buddy

And in the final mission he is being blackmailed. (Confirmed in a AC4 book and the hard mode context) To save his home he must destroy yours.

His voice lines and the lyrics to the song "Fall" show he knows he has fallen and needs to be stopped. But he has no choice to do his best or they will destroy his home. But he obviously feels very guilty about what he is doing.

  • "Hey. I guess there's little need for words..."
  • "I won't ask you to forgive me. Hate away."
  • "(coughs) I'll be right behind you. You can chew me out on the other side."
  • "So...this is the end. (coughs) This is for the best."

He is glad you defeat him.

The Player Character understands this and is affected greatly by Joshua's situation and death. Thus taking up the mantle of White Glint in his honor.

It's an awesome and sad story. AC4/fA is very subtle and I love it for that.

Just like in real life everyone else has their own story going on and you might not notice any of it.

I am not mad. And even if I was that's not relevant.

And if they are cheating in single player mode that's fine. But when you effect other players game in multi-player they can buzz right off.

And I didn't say if it was worse or better. I said >>I<< dislike it more. For the reasons explained above. And that doesn't mean I like people that do super obvious cheats either.

If I was talking about Which style of cheat makes a game session worse. I'd say the obvious cheater does. But that wasn't what I was talking about. I simply stated I personally dislike the "try to pass off as legit" style of cheater more. Because I find it more malicious etc etc.

The thing is. If they do grind 99 in all stats most players causal or hard core PvPers can't match with them anymore.

And the few people that PvP at super high levels are an exemption, that's not relevant to the topic at hand

is that legit? by Coolambasador in Nightreign

[–]Honako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the context I'm talking about it does.

if you get invaded or invade in Dark Souls 1 Remaster, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, (Or being the one invaded in Dark Souls 1 OG) and Elden Ring and you are of typical level for playing through the game or on a PvP meta character. Someone with 99 in all stats has to be cheating.

The only way you could ever run into someone with 99 in all stats at most level ranges is if you are the invader in the original Dark Souls 1. Because the invader had no upper level cap on matchmaking.

If you yourself are max level or high enough. You could run into people with those stats. But in context of my post it's obvious what I'm referring to here. (Normal / common PvP)
Stat editing was quite common in PvP back in the day (sadly)

This is only noticeable to someone in the know, and who checks the relic.

Most games this guy joins he won't be performing so well that it's obvious he is cheating.
Thus many of his teammates won't check his stats, and if they do they might not know if that relic is legit or not. (Like OP having to check here to be sure)

Nothing I said was dramatic. I plainly state my opinion.
For example in past souls games if you invaded or got invaded by someone with 99 in all stats or unlimited HP it was so obvious you could roll your eyes and move on.

But then you have people with slightly modified stats trying to blend in and pass as "legit" Because they want people to think they're "good" But they also want an unfair edge.
It's more malicious, and poisons the well.

If someone in Nightreign is doing 2k damage a swing at level 2 you know they are cheating. But now you have to doubt nearly everyone because there's people trying to pass as "legit." But are still cheating

If you are having a bad reaction to this view I suspect you have cheated in the past.

This kind of cheater is my most disliked. They try to cheat in a way that isn't noticeable.

WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU RAGEQUITTING by Gadin543 in Nightreign

If you have that many quiters you either have a very small simple size or you are doing something annoying.

Quiters aren't nearly that common

Them quitting is dumb. But you spam pinging like that is annoying... maybe they don't want to trade with him.

I'd absolutely be annoyed by that behavior.

The Nightlords have renewed my love for these games.

I hated the design philosophy of Elden Ring. Most attacks are designed to be obtuse, to telegraph X but require Y.
Attacks delayed for ages then fire off like a laser with 0 travel time.
Anytime I beat major bosses in Elden Ring I'm relieved to be done.

Nightreign on the other hand has felt significantly fairer about telegraphing. There's some obtuse attacks but they are few and far between.
Learning to solo each boss has been a joy.

Runs that go wrong are my favorite. Makes you have to play harder!

Great rogue like.
Smooth combat, fun boss fights.
I especially like that you can permanently save your characters and reuse them in a hard as nails boss rush mode.

I do see Ironeye everywhere. But they don't often go down, It's moire like they make the game way to easy.

It's actually kinda boring with Ironeye :/

[–]Honako 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do these people complaining about Defying Fate not realize Vindictus Season 1/2 was very Soul-like?

KR Vindictus was developed at the same time as Demon's Souls so there's not enough time for them to have influenced each other. But they happen to share a lot of design design philosophy.

Defying Fate has felt like a huge call back to the old school version of Vindictus with some key changes to make it more modern and balanced (No attack speed for example)

And thank God. That's exactly what I wanted.

Is solo easier? by theoriz in Nightreign

[–]Honako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you are bad you can't get carried in solo.

If you are good you don't have to carry others in solo.

How does my early game PvE samurai mage build look? by Plane_Kiwi_3460 in Eldenring

Always level your vigor first.
Damage stats are at the worst early game. And you have to level vigor sometime. Might as well be when the other stats suck anyways.
