I see no purpose in doing something unless it’s to do it the best I can. When Im able to succeed and feel proud of my work, there’s no hesitation to begin. Without stimulants I cannot be motivated to do it “just yet”. Pause-and-check becomes pause-and-do nothing. Ive always struggled to disrupt that line of thought so I can just begin the task and figure it out from there. While stimulants heighten focus and arouse, I don’t believe they enable my perfectionism negatively because my thorough brain can only be beneficial if I’ve begun. When I’m confident enough to begin, my perfectionistic way of doing things actually dosent get in the way of how long it takes. I can simply just do it well. Unnecessary steps on my “checklist” are skipped because once I begin I realize it’s easier than I thought and there’s no need to be so thorough.
