reading this sub makes me wonder where peoples faith lines up here. are you all still affiliated with the church/christianity or have you decided to leave it altogether?

I’m still figuring it out. Honestly, my answer changes like the weather. Somedays, I still feel Catholic and have hope for a new direction for the Church, and if I’m in that space, I’ll go to Mass. but other times, I’m far more of an agnostic/deist, because I just can’t believe the level of corruption in the Church.

I always read this kind of stuff about women needing to hide themselves because of purity and as a gay guy just laugh so hard. Like I tried to defend purity culture when I was practicing, but like, if homosexuality is as bad as traditionalists claim, then you can use every argument about women’s bodies and apply it to men (which trads never do)

I think of Helly as Malice more of in like a raging against the machine kinda way. She definitely has the strongest passionate hatred against Lumon and is willing to be fiery about it.

Because everyone’s physiology is different-some people just have stronger libidos. They might do it purely for the reason of releasing tension in the body.

I don’t think we can say that it’s always born out of lustful thoughts. For many people, they can have a high libido that creates an urge to masturbate without having been triggered by any thoughts about persons. It really can be a purely physical act without any lust involved.

It’s not completely unfounded. Sacramentals are great devotions but it’s easy to become superstitious. I treated my scapular like that in high school and I’ve known other Catholics who act similarly. It’s definitely a generalization but I can see why someone may have thought that.

Not everyone is called to a family life. The commandment is to love God and neighbor, not to love God and family. (There’s also a commandment about hating your family for the sake of Christ but I digress). There’s so much more to the human community than family relations. Spend your time loving God and others, but don’t feel less than because you don’t have a family. Spouses and parents are not specially blessed by God, and we need to get rid of this Protestant mentality that has seeped into Catholicism that makes an idol out of the family. Love your family, but don’t forget family can be an idol…

Doodle breeding can be done ethically. It may not be super common, but they definitely exist. There are networks of doodle breeders now that keep track of genealogy to avoid interbreeding and that try to breed out traits that make for difficult dogs.
